We went to Sushi Iwa for Valentine’s Day because we wanted somewhere close by, and I’m so glad we did! There was a bit of a wait, but honestly, it was Valentine’s Day so that was expected.

The food? SOOOOO good. I’ll admit, I was a little curious (and slightly skeptical) when I saw that the menu had Japanese, Chinese, and Thai options. I thought it might be one of those hit-or-miss situations. But nothing was missed. Every single thing we ordered was absolutely delicious.

The portions were generous, the prices were affordable, and we had so much food we took half of it home… and then ended up eating it later that night because it was just too good to leave alone.

This is officially my new date-night spot. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely outstanding. We had fried rice, red curry and sushi BOGO for dinner. The red curry was hands-down the best we’ve ever tasted rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Their sushi BOGO is equally impressive, especially the Pretty in Pink dessert-style roll, which was a standout with its delicious nut-filled center. If you’re craving exceptional sushi or unforgettable red curry, this is the place to go.

Sushi Iwa is NEW MANAGEMENT! There was a Thai place here before – But we came back after a long trip and this HIT THE SPOT! Incredible BOGO Sushi – Julian Moon and Volcano Roll were so yummy. (Both cooked!) Beef in the pad Thai was super tender. Great food, great service, we will definitely be back! Really clean space, great for a chill dinner out with family

It was SO GOOD! I ordered the Fried Salmon Sushi and the Drunken Noodles. The sushi was amazing. OMG. I burnt my mouth trying it in the car, forgetting it had just come out of hot oil . They were BOGO Free so I have plenty to eat tomorrow. The Drunken Noodles were amazing as well! As soon as I tasted the flavor I said, “Oh, yeah.” lol I used to go when the restaurant was called Thai Noodles and I hated their Drunken Noodles. I’m glad the new owners brought their own recipes. I’m looking forward to trying their curry fried rice next.

The food was amazing. We have been to the location in Apex and they had the same quality across the board. I love how their menu is set up with pictures of all the food they serve. We ordered the (top) volcano roll, sushi iwa, cherish you, and special spider roll (bottom). The volcano roll is one of our favorites. We love the little scallops on top. Definitely recommend coming to try their sushi. Love it here!

This happened a couple of months ago but is still bothering me.
I visited Sushi Iwa with two friends. The entire restaurant was empty when I arrived, besides two servers. Even though there were no other customers, it took 30 minutes for ours to ask us what drinks we would like. Then, it took 20 minutes and another server reminding ours to bring our drinks. So, 50 minutes to get diet coke and water. The sushi did not take as long and was fantastic. When it came time to tip, I was confused. My meal was small (I eat on a budget) and only $13. Somehow, the tip options on the screen began at $3.50 upwards. I always tip 15-20% minimum, but this was far higher. Considering the poor service and high tip options, I selected ‘no tip’. I did not see an option for a custom tip. The server immediately started yelling at me and asked me why I did not tip him. Without letting me answer, he then explained the American tipping culture. He accused me of implying he had bad service (he did), and made a scene in front of my friends and the entire restaurant, which now had other customers. It was humiliating, to say the least, and my friends still think I don’t tip. So thanks! I work in a restaurant myself and understand that tips are important. I do NOT understand yelling at customers after you gave lousy service in an empty restaurant. I would have liked to come here again. I never will.

The service here is exceptional and the sushi is super fresh and flavorful! Lin is a great knowledgable host, she was super kind to explain how to order different sushi options and customize the rolls too. She also shared a guide that showed all the pictures of the rolls (this helped me choose rolls to order so much easier with all the great options and also now I already have a list of ones I want to try in the future when I bring friends!) This was my first time here and quickly decided that I will consistently be coming back here for the great service and quality food.

I gave it a 2 stars because I recently dined at this establishment, ordered the Tom Kha soup and soup came out to be a big bowl (which is Great). But when I came back another day to order the same soup Togo it was significantly small, as they used the small soup containers for Togo instead of the big one. Disappointing considering the soup is almost $10 but for Togo they give you measly small portion. You literally get half of what you would get for Togo vs dine in. I’ve attached pictures below.
