We originally had a reservation for the omakase experience at Katami, but shortly after being seated, the manager asked us if we’d like to move over to the newly opened Sushi Horiuchi – there had been a last minute reservation cancellation and two seats were available at the six seat omakase. What followed was the best fine dining experience we’ve ever had. Chef Hori and Chef Anna personally led us through a 21 course dinner of hot and cold dishes (and sake pairing) with many of the ingredients sourced directly from Japan (some had literally been delivered that morning). Everything was exquisitely and beautifully prepared and it was extra special to have Chef Hori explain each dish as it was prepared and served. If you have the opportunity to sit at Chef Hori’s omakase counter, do not miss it.

Great place! Would totally get the classic sake pairing again. Chef Hori was wonderful and made the evening a night to remember. Be aware of your party size before going and make sure to make a reservation on resy. Already made a second reservation since only 6 are allowed per reservation. It was worth the waiting for their opening.
They are closed on Sundays and Mondays

Having sampled several Omakase restaurants across Houston, this experience takes the cake. The 6 seat, intimate setting really changes the game for fine dining in an already competitive food city. We did the premium sake pairing, which on its own was a delight. Get seated at 645 so you can kick off the experience properly – go next door to Katami and grab a cocktail first.
Chef Hori and the entire staff made this an unforgettable experience with every dish bringing something unique. Hope we get to go back!
