Drinks: We ordered hot tea and water and asked for refill once. When the bill came, we were charged full price for the refill. 1700 yen for 2 tiny cups of hot tea and tap water.
Food: We ordered the 10pc Nigiri set for 7700 yen per person. The fish we got was nothing special. No better than what we’ve found from premade section at grocery store. A couple of the pieces were veiny. Only the fatty tuna was memorable.
The appetizer, red miso, and chocolate dessert were just ok.
Overall: We were given the tourist treatment even though we were careful to be respectful the entire time. Very disappointing. We will not be going back nor be recommending to friends and family.
Atmosphere was friendly. During the preparation time, as usual omakase set up, we were able to see the chef handling the food items to be served and there were sea urchin. Yet, towards the end we found that we didn’t get offer the same as the menu we selected online, in particular, not the sea urchin and abalone/waygu beef. We asked the chef nicely and been told those were only served for the dinner and subject to seasonal availability.
We thought maybe they were confused and did not read our booking details carefully (like the seat arrangement) and served us a lunch menu at a lower price (excluded sea urchin and abalone/waygu beef). I understood for omakase it’s subject to seasonal availability but when we asked for sea urchin sushi at the end, the chef said we can order extra for an additional cost. It was official that sea urchin was indeed available in the restaurant (as we also saw that during preparation). We ordered one for each of us.
For the bill at the end, we’ve been charged for the original set that we ordered online which should have included the abalone/wagyu beef and sea urchin. We went for clarification and showed him again the menu we ordered. But he insisted it’s only available for dinner and subject to seasonal availability. We do have a friend who can speak Japanese and we did the talking in Japanese as well.
The whole bill was about 21,500 yen each with a 180ml sake and drink for each of us.
For this price I think you can get much better deal in most of the places in Osaka (especially for lunch).
We didn’t get shown the menu when we sat down. And never been told the menu was that different from what we have ordered. It’s quite unacceptable considering the price and only the more expensive items were missing and the difference. Foods were ok but we will never visit this again.
This place deserves every star.
I visited on my way home from work. Located in the heart of Umeda, this restaurant is easily accessible as it’s located on the first floor. The subdued lighting at the entrance is very Japanese, and the interior is clean and elegant.
Good Points:
• Smooth reservations: Reservations were made easily and conveniently.
• Multilingual support: English-speaking staff were available, and the chef was very humorous! He casually asked me, “Where are you from?” and even demonstrated his Chinese skills, giving me the ultimate “emotional value (omotenashi).”
• Amazing freshness: I’m actually not a big fan of raw food, but the sushi here was something else entirely. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, and thanks to the chef’s entertaining explanations, I forgot my dislike and ate with gusto.
I still remember the taste and savor the lingering aftertaste, wishing I could eat it again. In terms of taste, atmosphere, and service, this is an Omakase experience I can confidently recommend in Umeda. I’ll definitely visit again!
The course began with an appetizer of mushroom and spinach, followed by nigiri sushi of red sea bream, striped jack, flounder, bigfin reef squid, and botan shrimp.
Personally, I particularly enjoyed the fatty Spanish mackerel and medium-fatty tuna. The lean tuna, softly cooked conger eel, and sweet egg all came together perfectly, finishing with red miso soup and Hokkaido milk ice cream. The ice cream was delicious, with homemade brown sugar syrup and kinako (roasted soybean flour) flavor!
The full menu of sushi was well-balanced, and the price was very reasonable for what was offered. I recommend this restaurant for those looking for a casual sushi course.
