First off, our server Kyoko was great ! Of course, we expected nothing less !
For those who do not know, they are back in their original location. They were at the Sonic next door for a time whilst they rebuilt. Both locations are like right next to each other, so it’s easy enough to find if you’ve never been to the original location.
Food…. great, as well !! I had the shrimp fried rice. It is one of the best in town !
The Miso soup hits the spot ! Our drinks were refilled in a timely manner ( a small thing, yet the mark of good service).
My fave item is the Pink Lady roll. I think it’s a roll ( I did not order this time as I was not very hungry).
The indoor is a wonderful, cozy atmosphere. Very much as I remember the original. Plenty of good seating and lotsa TVs if you want to watch sports. There is a bar you can sit at.
There is an cute outdoor patio.
The place is on Line Ave, right next to Chiante. There is plenty of parking. If not right up in front, there is a parking lot, too.
Wheel chair accessible. Handicap spaces right up front and easy to get in the restaurant.

Ambience is good.. and service is very good. But but.. sushi gen is failing to provide the quality food it used to. The chicken fried and egg fried rice are so dry that you need soda to gulp it down.
The yellow tail sashimi was still having sliver of skin on it. The scallops were overcooked… again.. what used to be a decent restaurant is failing to deliver

Food was fantastic! Some sushi places gives you more rice on a roll instead of meat. This places gives you more in the inside of the roll instead of the outside. Did I mention it was fresh?! Meat had a rainbow color it was so fresh!

Sushi Gen is my favorite place to get sushi. They are the ones that changed my mind about sushi! It is always so good! I love the staff…but they have literally never disappointed me. My to go orders are always great as well. I love the steak bento box, yam yam roll, shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, 007, and Osaka roll (with crab on top)**they have 2 Osaka rolls. Their clear soup and spicy mayo are perfect! Im mot crazy about their ginger dressing. It’s a creamy style ginger dressing.

I usually don’t make reviews but my experience that I had when I had a take out order was unacceptable, the server that cashed me out was rude (A white female) but when I asked her if there was Teriyaki sauce in my to go bag, she had an angry look on her face, then she brought me some teriyaki sauce that I asked for and she NEVER once smiled or had a happy facial expression. I am here to say this I love Sushigen this is my favorite spot to come get take out, but if you are going to have severs like her then she doesn’t need to be in this industry!!!!!!! Thank you – unsatisfied customer!!

After searching far and wide for sushi that was fresh, I found this place on a Google search. I only had 2 items from the menu but they were both very good. Only downside was the size of the more expensive roll. I am used to a much bigger roll at that price point. I had the sweet shrimp sashimi and the sunshine roll. The sweet shrimp was great and they added the eggs as requested which really gives its a much more complex texture and elevates the taste. The sunshine roll was good. With a combination of shoft shell crab on the inside, tuna and eel on top. In many sushi places I have found all eel rolls lacking. I enjoy eel that has been reheated in the oven giving it a nice crispy texture and served warm. Many places I have found in the area don’t take this extra step and the eel is limp and room temperature at best. Unfortunately at sushi gen the eel was the same.

Eating at this restaurant was such a wonderful experience and I cannot wait to go back. The waitress was attentive and very sweet. Everything she suggested us to try was just wonderful. My picky 9 year old devoured his food and some of the appetizer. My Mai Tai was sweet and strong. My Husband’s White Russian was strong. I can’t get over how fresh and delicious the food was.

I ordered salmon sashimi and eel nigiri aka the sushi. The food was fresh and excellent which is why I gave 3 stars. The server was discourteous, inattentive, and looked sloppy. She did not get us with even a hello. My guest took a while to catch on that she was being rude. Who knows why but definitely not worth a second visit. Take your money elsewhere. There was nothing phenomenal here. Plus I ordered the tempera cheesecake which did not resemble tempera in the slightest and it was completely cold in the center and extremely hard and crunchy on the outside. Nearly frozen cold…Yuck.
