I like this place, but today was a bad day. I ordered a bento to go, and that was a mistake. Somehow the chicken teriyaki was loaded into the clamshell on top of the tempura which turned partially into a dark brown mush. The food itself smelled like something had been burned, and it was the chicken. I’ve eaten here before, the food is good, the service is good, but this was a bad day.

I was in the area for business, and was craving sushi. I narrowed it down to 2 locations, but this was closer to my hotel with comparable reviews. I wish I would have driven to the other location. The atmosphere here was average, and the food was just ok; I got the lunch sushi maki combo. The edamame appetizer was good, and the salad flavor was decent but was swimming in dressing over lettuce that was browning. The miso soup was luke warm, not hot, and the house sake was the same. When I got my sushi, it came out in less tham 5 min, which tells me it was prepared way ahead of time and just cut before serving. The fish juice had bled into the rice (see photo), and the flavor just wasn’t fresh. It wasn’t horrible, but for the price and location I expected more for being in Cali. I have had way better sushi in land-locked states. The sushi was disappointing; I can’t recommend the restaurant nor will I be back.

The super California roll and matcha mochi were great however the cherry blossom is a bit hard to get a hold of. The servers were really welcoming.

My husband and I decided to try this place for lunch today because it had 4 stars. I’m not sure how people in Turlock like their fish, but we travel all over the U.S. for work and this place was disgusting. I got greeted and told to sit, while I looked over the menu waiting for my husband to arrive…I could overhear the 2 waitresses talking about their periods and birth control! Not sure about you but that not what I like to hear about before I have lunch. Anyhow we ordered 2 rolls and the spicy tuna was not rolled like a roll. The other one was not fresh at all and tasted like the tuna was sitting for a week. We will ll not be returning back to this place.

We ordered 4 rolls for about $50. I was a bit disappointed though by the dragon roll. When I was chewing, I felt something poking me. It was little fish bones. I was very put off by that and lost my appetite. Everything else was okay. We also ordered the lambada, a baked salmon roll, and horse roll. The server was polite. We called to order our food ahead of time and picked it up at the store.

I was doing some errands around the place, and I asked about Bento box to go, the Asian lady was so kind the food was really fresh and good prices, and fast. The vento box (mine) comes with salad, sauces, salmon, tempura, 4 sushi pieces, miso soup, rice. All of them for less than $13. So far so good I’ll be back here. No doubt. No 5 stars because I have the 5 for awesome places, this is a good place. Probably next time I can see more and give 5 stars.

Fresh, fresh, fresh! I work in the center and I see the delivery truck show up an hour before opening every day. I finally decided to try and was very impressed. I got the Deluxe Combo and every peice was delicious. Pictures don’t tell the whole story, these servings are very large, but not too heavy on rice. Definitely recommend.
