We’ve been a customer of this place for more than 20 years, and it’s always a pleasure to come back. The service, the waitresses, the owner, and of course, the food is consistently wonderful.
I tried their ceviche and was pleasantly surprised! It’s not the traditional Peruvian style, but rather a Japanese inspired version, with its own unique flavor. Even though the taste isn’t exactly Peruvian, it’s absolutely delicious in its own way. They mix different types of fish, white fish, salmon, and others, which gives the dish a great variety of textures and flavors. The portion is generous for an appetizer, and the juices are perfectly balanced and refreshing.
I also love that they now garnish it with Peruvian canchita, adding a nice authentic and crunchy touch. This is my favorite dish on the menu, and I always come back for their ceviche. Magnificent food and always a satisfying experience!

This spot has been one of our “go to” restaurants for over 10 years. We are from South Beach which offers many sushi restaurant, but this feels homely.

My wife and I work on cruise ships so we were here the day before leaving and wanted sushi. This place was nearby and looked to fit the bill. It’s a cute little plant with low ceilings and lots of customers, great energy and relaxed vibe. We were sat quickly and I ordered a hot sake. It came out steaming quickly. We ordered a bunch of stuff to share. Miso soup, ginger salad, tuna tartar, and salmon, tuna, and hamachi sashimi with a side of rice. Considering the amount of small plates we ordered, the pacing was perfect. A new dish came out each time we were finished with a previous one at the perfect time! The miso and salad came first. The miso was nice and hot, with soft cubes of tofu. Excellent! The salad was very fresh and crispy, and the dressing was so good you wanted to eat it plain! Next the edamame came. It has just the right amount of Kosher salt and was piping hot. The tuna tartar followed, and at first I was a little recalcitrant at first because I’m used to bigger pieces of the tuna, but this was almost like the consistency of the inside of a spicy tuna roll. It was awesome! Just a little bit of heat, and it was a very big helping! It came with crunchy cucumbers which when dipped in a little soy were the perfect instrument to pick up the tuna. Finally the part we most looked forward to, the fish! The salmon was absolutely incredible, soft, no fishiness, great texture, melted like butter in your mouth. The hamachi was equally good, with a little more but pleasant fish umami. It was especially good with lemon squeezed on it! The tuna was probably our least favorite, it was a little gel like, and didn’t really have much flavor. That was the only thing we didn’t finish. As an aside, the rice was also amazing, it has just s pinch of vinegar and I made a couple pieces of nigiri with it. We will be coming here before every cruise from now on!

Absolutely outstanding sushi. The chef’s skill and attention to detail are clear in every bite—fresh fish, perfectly balanced flavors, and beautiful presentation. You can tell there’s real passion and mastery behind the counter. Hands down one of the best sushi experiences I’ve had. Highly recommend to anyone who appreciates top-tier sushi. Our family will continue ordering for many years to come!

I’ve been coming to Sushi chef for about 30 years. The staff is amazing. The food is excellent and David has worked on getting one of the better Sake options in Miami. This is a Miami gem that is spelt on by most. One of the few Japanese owned Japanese restaurants in Miami-Dade. Give Sushi Chef a try you won’t regret it.

Such a special night at Sushi Chef Miami. I went with my mom (she’s from Venezuela), and it was our first time back in about 32 years—returning after so long felt incredibly meaningful. We’ve known each other since the time Enamoto-san lived in Caracas, so being together again brought back so many memories. Everything was fresh and delicious, the service was warm, and the atmosphere was welcoming. It truly felt like a long-awaited reunion, sharing memories of Caracas over dinner. Highly recommend.

I love coming to Sushi Chef, it feels like coming home. This is a place that not only shines through the quality and freshness of the food but most importantly due to the phenomenal, attentive, dedicated and knowledgeable staff that makes the experience even more wonderful. From Mr. Enomoto to Marla and David, this is a place that has made it its mission to excel at everything they do.
The saba, harumaki, sukiyaki, unadon, royal chirashi, ankimo and yosenabe are such special dishes that you never find anywhere else and if you do they never compare.
I have been a customer for more than a decade and as someone who travels and has the opportunity to eat sushi not only around miami but in many different cities, I always find craving their food. It’s truly a gem that deserves and warrants making a trip to it from wherever in Miami you may live.
