We came here for a more affordable omakase experience while in NYC and it didn’t disappoint. It was very one on one feel even for the group. This location is a smaller space adjacent to the original sushi by M. Really fun. Really fresh sushi.

BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! Food quality was insane. My brother and i didn’t want to swallow because we were savoring each bite so much. The service was immaculate (special shout-out to Andy and the chef who didn’t judge me for not knowing how to use chopsticks). I feel very blessed and privileged to have experienced this place. I felt the perfect level of full after the meal and would come back here again and again. If you have Andy has your server, give him a 30% tip!!!!!

I have only had omakase a handful of times thus far, and WOW this place blows the rest out of the water. I went with the set with more pieces for $100. I could not believe how fresh and melt in your mouth the fish was. Each course of the omakase was prepared in front of me with care; it was great to be able to watch the knife work of the sushi chefs. All the pieces were well balanced in flavor, allowing each ingredient to shine. Favorites were shima aji, shiro ebi, chu toro, and uni. All the sushi chefs were experts at creating a great meal and connecting to customers! Not only a delicious, but fun meal too!

Wanted to enjoy a nice omakase during my short trip to NY and found Sushi by M on some on-line searches. $121 including tax and 20% tip is very reasonable. The food taste was good and the chefs were very friendly, even giving me extra Uni. Why 4 stars and not 5? I’m biased and want a more “authentic” omakase experience and comparing to other experiences throughout US and Asia. Some missing elements for me were: the rice was average and sushi rice is very important. Green tea was not brewed tea but a “cheap” tea bag. One of the chefs used wore plastic gloves…I’ve never had a real sushi chef wear plastic gloves. There was no tamago served as the last piece. Overall decor was more a Chinese restaurant style ca a Japanese restaurant. So overall it was a good experience with really nice people. I was just expecting a more authentic experience.

Great Omakase experience at the new Sushi by M location. Personal favorites were the Toro Caviar and Albacore Tuna. The menus between the two locations are not identical.

Amazing sushi and amazing staff.
Came here for dinner on a Tuesday evening and found that the restaurant was pretty empty – so we had the run of the place. The chefs were very kind and generous with the sushi and the actual pieces were varied and had a wide range of flavors and combinations. Some of the memorable bites through the night incl. the toro caviar, the salmon belly, and the handroll.
Overall, a great find and will be back for the omakase!
