The quality of fish here is at the level of an omakase!
Staff and head chef were extremely friendly, proud to ask how the dishes were.
The place is clean and looks like new – there’s even a hallway of the chef’s hand drawn art when heading to the bathroom.
In the end they offered me plum wine but I asked for ice cream and they accommodated.
I’ll definitely be coming back!
I only recommend 2 sushi restaurants to people and this is the 2nd!!! The first is their original location in Oakland on Park Boulevard.
They have an amazing selection of fish that is always high quality. I recommend the double sake to anyone looking for a unique experience but I love and have tried everything on their menu!
First thing first… Seriously for the owner(s). Your reception(system) is totally messed up. Many customers come in do not know what is going on? You don’t have a dedicated person to arrange people to wait or be seat. I don’t see an efficiency system to take care large amount of influx….. Maybe you need to re-train your staff for doing it, or yourself? Totally mess up. Especially your entrance is tiny, people do not really mind to wait outside, but you got to have a system.
Sashimi is fresh, at least. The UFO i don’t taste anything….lol… really!?
Overall, my first visit I can only rate you 3 stars.
I would also suggest your menu includes pictures or you post the pictures online.?
Unagi Don was ok. Some parts of the unagi was chewy instead of tender so that wasn’t as good. But the parts that were tender, which was about 70%, was umami delicious. It was good and reminded me of the original restaurant at this location – Kamakura.
The combination bento box of gyoza, tonkatsu and teriyaki salmon was good. The only thing that didn’t taste as good was the teriyaki salmon – overly cooked and overly dressed with teriyaki sauce.
