Sushi Ave is one of those rare, quiet gems that somehow never gets mobbed—and that’s a blessing. If you want solid sushi without waiting an hour or paying Scottsdale prices, this is the spot.
The rolls are delicious, generously sized, and consistently fresh. I usually go for the sashimi, and it never disappoints—clean, fresh, and done right.
Because the place is almost never packed (usually just a few tables at a time), service is fast and attentive. You’re not waiting forever for food or drinks. And on the rare occasion something gets messed up? They fix it immediately, no attitude.
I’ve been coming here for over 20 years. Ownership has changed, but the quality hasn’t—and that says a lot. Reliable, affordable, and legit sushi.

WOW I have never written a review like this but this entire meal was just amazing! It’s so hard to find good sushi places in the valley and this was fresh and the best sushi I’ve ever had. I also want to highlight the ginger dressing on the salad, it was so good I called and asked if I can buy a container of it!! This is a small business and they make their own dressing, I’m very impressed!!

Great food! Great service! I went here yesterday for the first time and I was incredibly impressed. It’s been difficult to find good sushi unless it’s next to a coastal area but this place is the way to go. It’s a great atmosphere and don’t forget to check out the happy hour on the hour!

I really wanted this to be delicious but I was thoroughly let down by the sushi rolls I got to-go from here. I happened upon it after going to the auto shop Nextdoor, was hungry and went inside. Atmosphere is nice, dark and feels comfortable. I was quickly helped with my to go order. I waited about ten minutes for my order.

When I got the sushi rolls two of the were smothered in sauces, mayonnaise based, eel sauce, whatever. I think it was the shrimp tempura roll, but it was very unappetizing. However I have eaten plenty of sushi before, but would have like to have known what was going to come on my rolls. Because none of the rolls are advertised on their menu as coming with sauces. It’s just the name of the roll and you pick it.

When I got to my destination I was very disappointed to see everything covered in sauce. I tried all of my rolls, but I ended up throwing nearly 80% of it away.

Absolutely loved it! I ordered 3 separate times from the menu, and the food was brought promptly. My server was Alexis. While busy the entire visit, she made sure to check in on and with me constantly. I’m definitely coming back!

Sushi Ave…. Sorry major mark missed on the Crazy Lobster roll. Also on the menu, “all day happy hour” and you get a regular menu. But only order off the happy hour menu? I was so confused. Please make 1 menu, stop the confusion!
Crazy Lobster roll, says ” crab mix, lobster tail, avocado roll….What was crazy, I am not sure it was lobster, langostino lobster (crayfish) maybe. Is was not a lobster tail it was more like the spicy crab mix chopped to death I am sure it was spoiled. I couldn’t eat it.
Now there was a star of the show, the mix tempura: hot, crispy and delicious!
Edamame was also a disappointment, look at the pictures. Cleaned? No. Prepped? No. Flavor? No.
Hawaiian shrimp….nothing Hawaiian about this fried shrimp dish.
There was a sewer smell toward the back. Faint but there. They possibly had the sushi counter but took that out, bottles are covering the sushi station.
I fely like I was down a Sushi Alley in the alley…

My husband and I have come here consistently for the past few years and love(d) this place! Unfortunately it seems they are under new management and it has become a place we won’t be going back to. I placed an order today that said would be ready at 6:15pm (1 hr from the time I placed the order). I received a text 15 minutes later saying my food was ready. Because of the timing, I called to ask if the food could be kept fresh until the original pickup time. For context, the order was for one roll. The lady I spoke to on the phone was VERY kind. The lady yelling at her in the back and talking negatively about me however was very unprofessional and rude. Suffice to say they refused to make sure it was kept fresh or remake the food and instead voided the order saying I “should” receive a refund though they weren’t certain. Overall, it was a very strange and disappointing experience, especially compared to how great this place used to be.

Sunday night, 7pm, happy hour, no wait. We were one of two tables taken. Menu prices were 30% more than website advertised. Rolls were good. 6 pc. Sashimi was salmon and tuna only, and the tuna was cut so thin there was holes in it. Bill was brought to the table before we finished and we weren’t even asked if we wanted anything else. I asked to speak to the manager or owner and was told no one like that was there. I offered to leave my name & number to discuss, but was told the owners don’t speak english and it wouldn’t matter. So disappointed..

3 stars because the rolls were good, one star otherwise..

The sushi rolls are affordable, happy hour being all day every day except holidays. I do believe they keep the prices of the happy hour items down because 75% or more of the menu items are crab mix and shrimp-based. The Las Vegas and spicy tuna rolls were good as well as the bulgogi fries.
Unfortunately 12 hrs later, we are experiencing symptoms of food poisoning, and the to-go box we took home smelled rancid a few hours later.
Because of the food poisoning and smell of the raw fish going bad so quickly, we will not be going back.
