Very good coffee and very good food. The type of good morning options typically found in the big city, but in suburbia. Breakfast foods. Amazing bagels. Grits. The world’s freshest orange juice. Oatmeal .vegetarian and vegan options. Pastry. Iced coffee. Loose leaf tea. Iced latte. All served on the go with a smile.

Simply put – wonderful! We did Nanna’s BLT and Danny’s Way…both were exceptional in taste and texture! Kolaches(maple-sriracha glazed sausage egg and cheese)-just get one of these and enjoy!!!!

This place is awesome! Very welcoming and inclusive. Lots of gluten free and vegan options. The food was fresh and definitely made with love. I had the gluten free kolache with egg, cheese and hatch chilies. The breezeway seating is comfortable. Appreciate they use real mugs and silverware. Prices were reasonable.

Really liked this cafe. I wanted to try the kolaches, since we don’t see these on the menu much and I enjoyed them while living in Texas. The one I tried was quite delicious. A nice variety of fresh pastries, coffee was good. Definitely adding to our coffee shop rotation.

We go every weekend, the people, the food and the coffee is excellent! The kolaches are great and there are always new, fresh baked pastries to try. There are usually vegan options as well as the typical meat, egg and cheese option. I no longer crave bagel sandwiches, only kolach for breakfast! Well decorated, cozy spot.

Took a trip to the new location of Surrounding Counties this morning and man was it worth it! As someone who visited the other location, I was surprised to see a more grown up atmosphere and wonderful service. We wanted to try many things and ended up getting the brown sugar rosemary latte, turkey bacon egg and cheese kolaches, and sticky buns! There were a couple areas to sit down and enjoy our food and everything was delicious! The items were a little more on the expensive side, but we left full and happy with the service as well as the experience! You don’t want to miss this one of a kind shop in the near west! Since the Starbucks is gone from this area, this was super convenient as I was getting my car fixed at Exxon across the street.

The best coffee shop and place for breakfast. The kolaches are amazing! the coffee is amazing as well with their house rosemary syrup (has a caramel vibe). Adding a photo of Nana’s BLT without tomato cherry.

This morning, I visited the shop for the first time and was quite impressed with the experience. From the quality of the pastries and coffee to the excellent service, Surrounding Counties instantly become one of my favorite coffee shops in Richmond. The turkey bacon, egg, and cheese kolache was perfectly fluffy, flavorful, and decadent. Also, the coffee packed the perfect amount of punch without being too bitter. Best of all, the owner has a friendly personality that makes the shop an inviting place. Whether you’re ordering to go or spending time inside, you’re guaranteed a warm, comfortable spot to enjoy your day. I’d definitely visit again and recommend!

First time going today, and we will definitely be back!! Wonderful eclectic atmosphere in this tiny shop with all of the great smells. We tried the drip coffee, iced latte, Everything Bagel with 2 baked eggs and bacon, and a dish (I dont remember the name), but it was sheet pan bread stuffed with eggs cheese and meats!!! A must get again!

Happy to have found this place today when my usual coffee shop was closed due to snow! The owner & all the employees there were friendly and welcoming, they excitedly shared info about what they make and all their gluten free options which they had quite a bit! I got a gluten free ham egg and cheese kolache, a latte, and a gluten free chocolate chip oat cookie! Very impressed with this place, super cozy and welcoming vibe. Will be back!

Came here for lunch/ brunch on Sunday. They have a nice size menu. After thinking on it, we decided to go with the salmon and grits as well as some Sunshine tea and chai latte.
The Ultimate grits were delicious! They are the poke bowl of grits. I also enjoyed their chai latte— yum. Laidback and casual atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely cafe.
