I was cruising on my bike along and I saw Surfer Girl Cafe, and its so inviting that I had to stop in. I’m so glad I did! I just went in for a little refreshment and ordered a cup of coffee, but the experience was wonderfu.

Anne assisted me and was incredibly kind, and Crystal was just as warm and hospitable. They both made me feel so welcome, which really made my quick stop extra special.

The place is beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the people are amazing.

If you’re in Redondo Beach, you definitely have to check it out!

I stayed at the Sea Sprite on Hermosa Beach for a couple of nights before heading to my daughter’s place, and I can’t say enough good things about it. The entire experience was fantastic. The rooms are beautifully upgraded—modern, fresh, and beachy in the best possible way, without feeling themed or corny. Every detail felt thoughtful and well done. The restaurant on-site was a standout. Absolutely incredible food and atmosphere, and such a treat to have something that good just steps away. What truly made my stay memorable, though, was the staff. Every single person I encountered was friendly, attentive, and top notch. They made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. If you’re looking for a place that combines comfort, style, great food, and genuine hospitality, Sea Sprite is a gem. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. In fact, I can’t wait to stay here again!

We had an excellent time at Surfer Girl! Came in for drinks, a cheese board, and dessert. All hit the spot (especially the dessert)! Our server, Madison, was fantastic. She was attentive, kind, and recommended the perfect glass of wine for everyone in our party. Can’t wait to return!

Visited the restaurant with a friend for the first time after their remodel. Ambience is wonderful. Our Server Eric was awesome and very friendly. Restaurant was not crowded at 130p. The food was very sparse. We both ordered the fish tacos. It was average, no chips & salsa or rice and beans, just two tacos with a wedge of lemon for $21 and the tortillas were soggy.

Very Bizarre – They act as if customers are an inconvenience. Sometimes we waited 45 minutes for a glass of wine or beer. Other times we ordered food that we never received. The workers seemed untrained, overwhelmed, and had lots of trouble using their computer system.

One day I stopped by with some friends. A worker (manager?) pulled me aside and the first thing he said was “I’m going to ask you to leave and never come back”. I was completely shocked and asked him what this was about. He then wrongly accused me of not paying our bill from the last time. I tried to talk to him about it and show him my credit card receipt on my phone, proving that I had paid. He wouldn’t even give me a chance to show him.

It was the most bizarre thing I’ve ever experienced at any bar or restaurant. They never showed me whatever bill he was referring to, so I never had any way of knowing what was on it or if it was even ours. Maybe the bill belonged to somebody else, or they charged us for the food that we never received and then never gave us the bill. Customers not receiving the food they ordered seems to be pretty common, as stated in other reviews. Regardless of why this happened, it doesn’t feel good to be wrongly accused of something like this. It’s much worse to not be given a chance to redeem myself.

Considering all the trouble they were having using their computer system, it should have been obvious that this was some mistake on their end instead of blaming their customer. They easily could have just discussed this with me in a respectful way and let me show them my credit card receipt, instead of handling it in this strange, aggressive manner.

After reading other reviews here and on apps like Yelp and OpenTable, I can see that our experience of poor service is common. However, the way they immediately assumed that I had intentionally not paid our bill (that I never received), takes it to another level and was just plain rude and unacceptable. How is a customer supposed to pay a bill that they were never given, or discuss charges that are not legitimate without seeing the bill?

I grew up in Hermosa Beach, still live here, and I’m a regular at all the bars and restaurants by the pier. I would never intentionally leave a bill unpaid and all the other bar and restaurant managers who know me would agree with that. I understand they’re new and have some wrinkles to iron out, but they shouldn’t be blaming their customers for their problems. I would still like to resolve this with them, but so far they just seem angry and hostile towards their customers. Many other customers have described similar experiences in their reviews here and the apps.

You can’t beat the view and the ambiance. We were here for happy hour and enjoyed some sparkling wine, beers and a charcuterie board. The wine and beer prices were on par for other places in Hermosa but expensive for happy hour. The food was definitely on the pricey end; the charcuterie board was good but not amazing. I wish the tables were a little bit bigger by the fire pit so that you didn’t have to worry about your glasses falling off the table and shattering.

We were shocked by the auto tip of 25%, especially considering the long wait for lukewarm and sub-par food. It seems like they should tell you before they seat you or at least post it in the menu; they don’t. When we complained about the surprise charge, the server, Dakota, said “go back to Europe if you don’t like it.” After spending 315$ this kind of dismissive hostility was really shocking. We hated this place. Strongly recommend to avoid.

Incredible service by our server Madison! I’ve lived in the South Bay for 15 years and have been waiting for something like Surfer Girl. Great ambiance and vibe, and the food was impressive. Recommend the ceviche, burger, and New York steak. Hats off to Matt, the head chef, who actually came out and introduced himself. Definitely recommend for a date night or sunset cocktails. Oh and they’re DOG FRIENDLY!

I’m shocked about the poor reviews (although a few 1 star seem to be from the same party) as I have been to Surfer Girl twice now (in addition to staying at the hotel) and both times were excellent. The food is inexpensive and large portions. It’s not gourmet, but it’s good. Both times our service was attentive, quick & friendly. The view is incredible and seating is comfortable. Also, coupons provided if you stay at the hotel. I love Sea Sprite and Surfer Girl and will definitely return. Great experience!
