We were looking for seafood but the seafood place in the same shopping center had a 2 hour wait. We came over here and sat right down. They had fried seafood and it was really good. We had clam, shrimp and flounder. It was all very good. I really loved the hush puppy like things they had. The sides were just standard but ok. Very friendly staff.

What can I say about this place but simply outstanding. I got half rack of ribs, some brisket, and potato salad. My wife got the pulled pork nachos. The staff was incredible and attended our every need. This place is a gem, and we will definitely be back!

I ordered the ribs…and they weren’t great. The sides weren’t very good either. The service and atmosphere were great, but without good food, both are moot.
If you’re in that area and want good BBQ, I’d recommend Smoky Tony’s in Holly Ridge.

THE BEST place to eat in Topsail. Arguably one of the best places to eat in North Carolina in my opinion. For the price, food, and experience, the value that Surf City BBQ provides to you and your family is indefinite. If Google would let me rate one hundred thousand stars, I would. The moment you step through their doors, you are greeted with a warm smile and open arms by some of the most loving, Godly, southern hospitality-providing women in town. After they guide you to your table, you are provided a hearty basket of some warm, tender hushpuppies. Not only are they free, they are DANG GOOD. As you are blessing your stomach with the complimentary, heavenly hushpuppies, you can browse Surf City BBQ’s menu that is complete with everything you could ever imagine from brunswick stew to shrimp po-boys. We went with the brunswick stew, BBQ sandwich, fried okra, potato salad, barbecue chicken wings, and loaded potato skins. If our stomachs would allow it, we would order the entire menu. Our meal came out to a very economic price, especially in today’s day and age of menu prices. Inflation is rising, but Surf City BBQ’s prices sure aren’t. If you are a local or just passing through, you don’t want to miss out, hit up Surf City BBQ!

Cool Country rustic atmosphere like general store. Pork snack excellent. Potato salad is really good like a deli with a hint of dill. Really good food and surprisingly inexpensive for the area. Good parking lots of room inside. Very friendly servers. Tea is good moderately sweet not sugar overload tastes fresh. Good portions of food. Good grade 97.5 at this time. Food hot very quick friendly service.

Great little spot before the bridge to Topsail. The menu is somewhat limited for a BBQ joint but we had the pulled pork was great. Slaw and green beans were good too. Definitely try the Redneck Nachos. You will not regret it! Their Carolina sauce was really good but I give the edge to their sweet honey bbq sauce which was totally amazing!

Edit per the snarky response from whoever runs their reviews: they did replace the meal with something different, but the poop track is a well-known thing that needs to be removed when cleaning the shrimp. So it would be common decency to replace the food. Also, the meals they were replaced with were half the meal as we did not request separate sides.
Excuse me for not adjusting my review when there was literal poop in my food. Not just one or two but both orders.
Stopped there spur the moment and was very disappointed. The hostess was great, but our waitress Pam lacked luster, to say the least.
Then the food came. Both my daughter and I couldn’t eat our shrimp because it wasn’t deveined. Feces was not on my list of things I wanted to eat today.. when I brought it up to the waitress, she just said, “Yeah.” As if it was no big deal when I pointed out that the vein has actual poop in it

I would definitely give Surf City Barbecue a second try. I like the decor with the album covers on the wall. The staff were really friendly. Our server was awesome. The food looked great but was a little bland. Nothing a little Tony’s (Tony Chachere’s cajun seasoning) couldn’t fix. Maybe it was just what I chose. The BBQ nachos were first rate with a little hot sauce. The curtains were dirty but other than that the restaurant was clean.

Absolutely bodacious! The service was top notch. The food was great. Typical (Carolina) BBQ with the usually fixings, like baked beans, slaw, mashed potatoes, etc. Christian themed, for the believers. But, not overwhelming, for non believers.
What was special about this one is the service. Jenny, my waitress, was more than excellent. She waited on me with professionalism in mind. Ordering was easy. She checked on me at appropriate times, never avoided nor bothered me
