Incredible food and even better service! Had a very delicious lunch. Austin was our server and he went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and enjoying our experience. Thank you Austin! Thank you Sur at The Barnyard!!

The restaurant was surprisingly great. We were visiting from San Diego and had just gotten into town. We had a reservation and they were able to seat us on time. The wings were very juicy and well cooked. Highly recommend the bacon cheese bread and the scallop risotto. And the cocktails were great too. Would go again if I’m ever in this area again. Our server Grant was great!

Have been here twice with my wife and also with friends. The first time around, forgot what we ordered, but the mud pie was absolutely delicious. That, we cannot forgot. The second time, we came with friends and ordered burger with fries, fish tacos, salad, and fried chicken dinner. I had the fish tacos – unfortunately, it needed seasoning. It was not the best. My friend said the burger needed seasoning as well, not the best. However, the salad was great and my wife liked the fried chicken dinner. Great service, no complaints there. Maybe it was an off night, but the place was full. I would not order the fish tacos or burger. Would need to try something else. Again, get the mud pie – you’ll thank me!

Dinner at SUR Restaurant in Carmel Valley – A Garden Gem!
We had a 6pm reservation at SUR Restaurant, nestled in the flower-filled garden courtyard of The Barnyard in Carmel Valley, and we’re so glad we booked ahead—it was absolutely packed by the time we left!
To kick things off, we shared a round of appetizers: perfectly crispy fried calamari, flavorful ahi wontons, and succulent shrimp. Each one was fresh and well-prepared, setting the tone for a fantastic meal.
The menu offered a great variety—something for everyone—which made it hard to decide. All four of us were torn but ultimately landed on the Sand Dabs, and we were so glad we did. They were hands-down the best we’ve ever had. Our server mentioned they’re the most requested item on the menu, and it’s easy to see why. If you’re a Sand Dab fan, don’t even think twice—just order them.
We wrapped up our meal with a decadent Mud Pie and Erik ordered the one-scoop sundae, which came out flameout style—a fun and dramatic way to end an already memorable dinner.
Charming ambiance, friendly service, and delicious food from start to finish. Highly recommend!

This restaurant is a really special place. The atmosphere is cozy and the food is amazing. My server, Austin, was fast, attentive, and kind. I had the butternut squash ravioli with walnut encrusted chicken which was amazing. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, butternut squash flavorful, and chicken juicy and tender. I finished dinner with the mud pie. I don’t have any good pictures because I enjoyed the food rather than pause for photos. I definitely recommend this restaurant for dinner!

Portions are sizeable given the price. Servers carry huge platters, from afar almost dropping them en route to the table. When busy, the kitchen gets backed up and food comes out staggered. Food wise, it was good but as mentioned some came slightly cold. I thought chicken the band waffles were really good. Same with tuna wontons but sizing seemed off – would be better as poke. And their cheesy bread was okay

I was nervous about bringing our 10 month daughter out to dinner in NYE but they were so accommodating! I made reservations for 5:15 (before people who didn’t want a nosy baby near them came to dinner) and we were seated immediately. The service was amazing! We ordered a bottle of Pinot noir, the crab cakes, My husband got a burger. Ans I had the seafood linguine – it was AMAZING! I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the restaurant was and how easily they accommodated kids, there’s a kids menu and plenty of high chairs. We will definitely be coming back!

Excellent food, been here many times but, haven’t given them a review. Great staff and the Manager was very accommodating.
The cheesy bread is to die for it’s amazing.
It’s nice to sit inside, and they have outdoor seating. I ate the French Dip which was excellent. The Chicken and Waffles is great too. Lots of drinks to choose from and something for everyone.
