I was visiting family in Pasadena and discovered Superba… It is a nice walk from the Hyatt Place hotel (25 minutes – if you stay on the smaller more residential streets). The staff make a point to know you… when I returned for the second time, the manager, Isabel, recognized me and remembered my drink. On my third visit, the remembered both my name and my drink order. I was thoroughly impressed with the entire team – everyone offers a sincere, “Good morning” and makes a point to make you feel special.
I should also mention that the coffee is fantasic — I especially loved their Flat White. The breakfast sandwich also checked all my boxes.
I would come back here for bunch or lunch. Looks like a good spot to work or study from. They have a lot of natural light. Parking was easy.
It would be nice if they had non-dairy options as my wife couldn’t eat anything really.
Staff were all very friendly and the food was seclusion. I got the salmon umami bowl and it was the perfect balance of grain, veggies and protein. We also got a loaf of their sourdough bread and it was perfect!
I had a cappuccino and a chocolate croissant for breakfast. Coffee was great, croissant was a bit soft but tastes buttery and satisfying.
️Ordered:
1. Vegetarian sausage biscuit sandwich
2. Chicken salad sandwich
3. Almond croissant
As you can tell from the photos, everything was super lackluster and dry af for a place that’s KNOWN for their bread, I was shocked at how bad the bread quality was… each sandwich was stale and it was quite obvious that they used week old bread…
The sausage sandwich’s cheese was cold and completely unmelted as you can tell from the photo. The sandwich was horrible and the bread was so dry I couldn’t even eat more than 1 bite..
I left feeling nauseous which is a really bad sign & it confirmed my suspicion that they didn’t use high quality ingredients.
The almond croissant was also burnt on the outside and had a really artificial almond flavor all in all this experience left a rly bad taste in my mouth (literally) and I won’t be coming again..
