The customer service experience was wonderful too!
I went there for coffee with some friends after drop off and it was the most comfortable and enjoyable spot to linger and enjoy some coffee which is amazing by the way. We each ordered different breakfast toasts and they were all delicious. The smoked fish tartine ended up being the star of the show…I was iffy on it from reading the menu but I will 100% order that next time even though they were all good.
The staff was very doting and accommodating and made us feel so welcome. We were not rushed and felt comfortable taking our time.
10/10 recommend
When you order, it takes a while so get ready to practice patient. Just for two muffins to be warm will take 15 minutes.
The food was awesome. We shared the schnitzel, the cheeseburger and the spring salad. All were delicious. A super nice staff as well. Thank you guys!
The menu itself feels disjointed, with unusual item pairings that come across more confusing than creative. I ordered the chicken schnitzel, which arrived dry and lacking flavor. The appetizer plate, featuring yogurt and tomato, had potential, but it was overwhelmed by excessive condiments. The tomatoes in particular were disappointing, with a soft texture that suggested they were not fresh.
Pricing is another concern. The menu is significantly overpriced considering the quality and execution of the dishes. To add to this, a surcharge was applied to our bill for a party of two, which is both unusual and questionable. The receipt also indicated “happy hour” at 8 p.m.—a detail that was neither advertised nor explained. Such practices raise concerns about transparency and management priorities.
In summary, while the restaurant benefits from a nice location, the food quality, menu design, and pricing do not justify a return visit. The added surcharge and lack of clarity in billing reinforce an impression of poor management decisions. I would rate Superba Food + Bread in Calabasas 1 out of 5, and that is solely for the setting.
