Unfortunately, they stole from us. The prices on the menu are lower than what they charge. ($16.50 for a torta?!) Before I paid, I told her that the amount she was requesting did not add up to what I bought. I knew the total should be $45.50 + tax. The cashier tried to give me a receipt with no information. I demanded an itemized receipt. She said, “Okay. But what I print here won’t add up to what you were charged.” Of course, I knew this.
The tortas were supposed to be $16.50/ea. per the menu. I was charged a dollar extra. The “golden tacos” were supposed to be $12.50. I was charged 50¢ extra. On top of that, I was charged for using my debit card. This is illegal in Oklahoma if it is not conspicuously posted, and it’s capped at 2%. They charged 7.5%. There was not a single post anywhere in the restaurant–neither at the door, on the menu, nor at the counter–that there was a credit card surcharge. This is illegal.
The food was hit and miss. My bride and son split a torta al pastor. My bride liked it; my son did not. My daughters split another one, and they liked it. Both came branded with a pretty cool brand mark.
I had the “golden tacos”. There was no description in the menu; just a picture and a price. They were pretty worthless. It was essentially deep fried tortillas filled with mashed potatoes. Had i known there was no meat in the dish, I would definitely not have bought it. The page of the menu on which the golden tacos was displayed was filled with about 8 different meals, none of which had a description of what is in the dish.
The tortas here are the size of your head. The sandwiches were served hot and my milanesa was very tender and easy to chew. There was no way to finish it all.
On my second visit, my Mom got the Cubano (which should be called the kitchen sink). I opted for steak asada taco and two gorditas – pork and bean and cheese.
The meats were tender and quite flavorful. They make the masa for the gorditas in house, and it’s a perfect mix of corn and not overly doughy. My mom very much enjoyed her sandwich. We will be back.
