A great little Mexican/American diner that offers a variety of breakfast foods at a good value.
We had a couple of omelets and a skillet and everything was great. They have a lot of Mexican themed dishes on their menu (with things like chorizo and jalapenos). There was a slight language barrier with our server, which was a great chance for me to practice my Spanish skills.

We ate there for the first time Nov 2025 and it was good. Service and atmosphere was decent. It’s not food I would crave but would go back to if I was in the area.

Breakfast at Sunshine Breakfast House & Grill (5116 W 38th St)
My wife and I decided to try something new today and headed west after hearing good things about Sunshine Breakfast House & Grill. It’s tucked just off the north side of 38th Street—easy to miss if you’re not paying attention.
I ordered the Meat Lover’s Omelette—bacon, sausage, ham, and cheese. It came with hash browns, and I added toast and two extra strips of bacon. Coffee was hot and solid. I also ordered orange juice, but it never came—forgot about it until now.
My wife went off-menu and built her own plate: scrambled eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, hash browns, wheat toast, and pancakes. No complaints—she enjoyed it all.
The food? Really good. My omelette was stuffed and full of flavor. They’ve got a big menu that mixes American and Mexican breakfast and lunch options, so there’s a lot to explore.
The place is clean and comfortable, with cozy booths, standard tables, and a bar area that mirrors the main dining room. Service was friendly and quick, though the language barrier made some things a little bumpy. Nothing major, just something to note.
Bottom line: Solid breakfast spot. Big portions, clean space, good food. I’d come back if I’m in the area and hungry.

The food is very good. The place is extremely clean. But there is a huge language barrier, which makes it difficult to order food. You almost have to write the order down for it to be correct. Possibly have someone that is fluent in English to help take orders. All in all it is a nice place and I would return

I went for breakfast yesterday. I ordered the green juice, which was quite delicious. Cucumber/pineapple/celery. I also ordered the huevos divorciodos, which was just okay. It could have been elevated a little bit with a more impressive plating presentation or side or something. The tortillas underneath were very chewy and eggs a little too crispy for my liking. However the food was delivered promptly and fresh.

Today was my first experience dining at the sunshine breakfast and I was so impressed. The restaurant was very clean, the greeter and servers was so nice, attentive and caring. The food was so so delicious. My husband and I give this restaurant a 10 and 2 thumbs up. We highly recommend and we can’t wait to go back.

We were in Indianapolis for business and needed breakfast. Our hotel breakfast was a joke. So we just picked a place on the phone. The lot was empty not a good sign but we got inside and it was awesome. The food was amazing, we went back the next day too. Any time I am in Indianapolis I will swing in for breakfast.

Pretty good breakfast. Gave them 5 stars because service was great, food was great, clean and fast. I saw some other comments that the food is what you can get at other places. Yes it is the basic breakfast food but they also have other food that isn’t breakfast related. The menu is similar to Denny’s but with about 10% more to choose from. I feel like they did a great job with the classic breakfast foods so I will go back. It’s definitely worth the try.
