Skidder’s rebrand into Sunset Kitchen is everything St. Pete Beach needed. With Chef Marcos leading the kitchen, the new menu is thoughtfully curated, highlighting locally sourced, high-quality ingredients while still staying approachable and affordable–a rare and refreshing combo.

The remodel is absolutely stunning. Think beach luxe: vibrant, airy, and open, with a welcoming coastal energy that instantly elevates the space without losing its laid-back charm.

Beyond the food and design, the staff and new ownership truly shine. The service is warm, attentive, and genuinely excited about what they’ve created–and it shows in every detail.

Whether you’re a local or visiting St. Pete Beach, Sunset Kitchen is the new go-to spot. It’s perfect for brunch, lunch, or dinner, with live music, TVs at the bar for sports, and a menu that offers something for every age and taste.

Can’t say enough good things–this place is a must-visit.

I’m almost hesitant to post this because I want to keep this spot to myself, but the secret is officially out. We are locals on the beach and honestly can’t believe we haven’t been coming here every week.

The Atmosphere & Service

Sunday service can usually be a gamble, but Walter was absolutely holding court in the bar area, making the whole vibe feel like a high-end neighborhood hangout. Justin was the MVP of the floor—insanely attentive, hospitable, and knew exactly when we needed a refill.

The Food (The Real Star)

If you’re coming here, do yourself a favor and follow these rules:
The Pork Chop: It was straight fire. Do not overthink it—order it medium. Trust me on this one; the juiciness is next level.
Poke > Ceviche: The ceviche is good, but the Poke is the undisputed heavyweight champion here.
The Tacos: They do not skimp. There was a massive amount of shrimp in those tacos, and the black beans had just the right amount of flavor.

The Verdict

Whether it’s a “sleepy Sunday” or a Friday night, this place is hitting all the right notes. Great service, killer food, and that local charm we all look for.
5/5 Stars. Don’t be like us—stop sleeping on Sunset Kitchen!

We really liked Skullys ( the previous restaurant at this location). We were disappointed that it changed hands. We gave it a chance ( what else would you do when you were hungry).
The atmosphere is nice. The staff tried their best. The food was ok.
Out of almost everything we wanted. They had no pizza dough. Hadn’t been delivered yet. We talked them into making pita pizzas. ( Now if I’m paying that much for a pizza.. I expect home made pizza crust. )
All in all we made it fun. I’m sure it will improve. Or … Fail. Beach side restaurants have to really make an impression to last.
Good luck guys.

Tried Sunset Kitchen & Drinks in Florida for the first time with a friend and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was incredible — I had the shrimp and scallop moqueca and it was packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and just overall delicious. My friend ordered the aji verde chicken and couldn’t stop talking about how good it was.
The mule drinks were also on point — refreshing, well-balanced, and the perfect pairing with our meals.
But the true rockstar of the night was our server, Meghan. She was attentive, friendly, and genuinely made the entire experience memorable. Great service can take a meal to another level, and she absolutely did that for us.
Can’t wait to come back!

We went for Sinatra night on Thursdays and had the best meal we had all week! $30 for a ribeye with truffle fries AND a drink! Which they did non-alcoholic for us.

The interior was beautiful. The staff was friendly. However, we were disappointed in our entrees. The Aji Verde Chicken was bland and lacked sufficient sauce The rice was cold and the side dish was underwhelming. My dining partner had the jerk mahi but substituted grouper. the mango salsa was totally absent from the dish. I was expecting more quality for the price of our meals.

We have lived in Pass a Grille/St. Pete Beach since 2008. We hated to see Skidder’s change owners, but this place is phenomenal! The new owners have raised the bar. Their specials all through the week are fabulous. Great service and amazing food. The whole remodel is just incredible. Definitely recommend especially from a local like me. Kristi

Heard good things and friends we were with had been before and liked it. We went to Sunset on a Sunday at 11;00am. We sat outside. No one else was sitting outside with us. Our sever was nice but overwhelmed. She brought our food out one person at a time with 3-5 minutes between each person’s meal (there were 8 of us). We had to go inside to get our own salt and pepper because she never brought it. We had to ask for water and ice several times before we got it. We never got our flight of mimosas. The manager never said a thing to us and never tried to help our server. When my husband went inside to get the salt and pepper she handed him two peppers and when he said I need salt she told him she gave it to him. He had to point it out that they were both pepper. Both times we did see her she was fussing with her hair and just walking around aimlessly. Managers should be reading the restaurant and their staff and helping when needed. I don’t blame our waitress as much as the manager for the poor service.

An Unforgettable Experience at SKD Kitchen & Drinks

SKD Kitchen & Drinks treated us amazingly from the moment we walked in. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, with a warm and elegant atmosphere that immediately makes you feel welcome.

The chef personally came to our table to ask how the food was, which made the experience feel very special. My friend and I tried several dishes from the menu, and every single plate was delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and presented with such delicate detail. The goat cheese was truly a showstopper—Walter presented it to us with so much class and passion that it made the dish even more memorable.

The drinks were outstanding as well, and Walter went above and beyond by sharing the history behind them, which added a unique and personal touch. With every plate and every drink, we were stunned again and again—surprise after surprise.

The customer service was excellent: professional, warm, and genuinely welcoming. The manager, Justin, was incredibly caring and checked in to see how we were feeling and enjoying the experience. To top it all off, the live music was fantastic—Chris has a beautiful voice that added the perfect finishing touch to the evening.

This is the kind of place you visit once and know you’ll be coming back again and again. We highly recommend SKD Kitchen & Drinks to anyone visiting St. Pete. Truly exceptional! Ivón Dee from Miami, Florida.
