A cool little vintage restaurant that gives off very cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The server was such a sweetheart and so caring to us! She offered her input on the menu and what we should get. The food was delicious and the price is great too! My only downside would be that the water and lemonade tasted funny to us. Other than that this is a great little breakfast shop on the north side of Waukegan

✔️Nice folks, good prices, John and Effie have been there a long time. They take pride in their ownership, and service of the customers. The Motif is a little dated, but it can be a very cozy dining experience. There are areas inside the restaurant where you can eat in privacy. The food is always good, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. ⭐

The food was awesome. The homemade chicken and dumpling soup really was homemade … just like Grandma’s. The corned beef hash portion was HUGE. My friend said the BLT wrap was delicious however the french fries!! Woah!! You have to have the french fries here!
The waitress was nice and chatted with us as well as explaining the menu. Fantastic job 🙂
The decor is nostalgic. I love the classic American feel. I’ll definitely be back when I’m anywhere near this place.

Everything was excellent from the service to the food. Loved the cinnamon French toast. And I was skeptical of the hamburger chowder until I tried it. It was GOOD. Definitely coming here again.

Our portions were large and very good. This was the first time I’ve been to this restaurant. The second time for my wife. She had the potato pancakes, two eggs and two slices of bacon. I had the biscuits and gravy, two eggs and two slices of bacon. We definitely will eat here again. Don’t be like us and drive by because it looked closed or empty.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Sunset House. This would of been a nice place to go for breakfast but the food was incredibly bland and tasteless. We ordered eggs Benedict, and it was a total letdown. The hollandaise sauce was barely there, which is the entire point of the dish. Cold spinach and awful taste. The hashbrowns were just unfried potato chips that they call fries with no seasoning whatsoever. It’s like the kitchen staff had forgotten how to use spices or herbs on all the food. I can’t believe how bad the food was. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
