The lazy days of summer have returned! A favorite stop in Fairport Harbor is the Sunset Harbor Bar & Grill. The food and service are always great! The Creole Shrimp and the chowder are our favorites! Lunch on the deck is a beautiful way to spend the afternoon.

Went on a Saturday around 5 PM. Minimal wait for an outdoor table. Service was good, polite staff. Just not enough staff to go around. Ordered a rare burger. Got a medium well burger that was very dry. Waffle fries were good. Beer was cold. Scenery is beautiful. I will go again, perhaps on a weekday.

The standouts here are the staff and the location. Great views of the harbor and nice beachfront type atmosphere. And all the hosts and servers were awesome. But the food was… bad. The fish was somehow burnt on the outside and still a little frozen on the inside. The hotdog looked good, and the fries were fine. Everything else was mediocre, dry and flavorless. But maybe we should have asked what they recommend getting.

I’ve been here a few times. The setting is the draw. Food is only OK and it’s pricier than other places that offer the same fare. Service is consistently lacking. The website takes you to a different restaurant. Their social media does not have a current menu. The last time we were there, August 2023, the hostesses had a disagreement about the presence of “bees” near our destination table. Indeed, there were yellowjackets at our table and the other table on our deck. Other dining sections were not in the same situation. The server only replied “try working a 12 hour shift with ‘em” when we stated that we wanted boxes for our meal because we could not get the food to our mouths without yellowjackets swarming in. Bugs in our drinks the whole time. Our server then vanished, so we moved ourselves to an adjacent indoor dining area where were able to eat. If you’re game for a heaping helping of frustration and disappointment, this is your jam.

After reading some of the reviews, we had low expectations on the food. However, that was not the case. We thought the food was very good. The price was pretty average for the area and the view was spectacular. The service was good. Really looking forward to going back.

The off-shore Sammie was a banger! The view/location is phenomenal. The waitstaff were great, despite the kitchen almost seeming to be in the weeds. It was worth the 45 min wait time for a table cause we could still order beers. I’ll return someday!

Yummy food and a setting that cannot be beat. So lovely to sit out by the lake and enjoy the scenery. The fish taco was very good and the crab cakes were worth going for. Wish I had been there later to see the actual sunset, but I’m sure it’s spectacular with how beautiful the scene was. Parking can be a little dicey, get there before they are super busy to get a spot.
