The best breakfast we had on our trip!! We were in town for snow outlaws, this was our teams favorite meal of the day! Staff was super friendly and food was 10/10

A true 5/5! A great breakfast spot for anyone looking to grab a bite in the Northern woods. The servers are particularly friendly. This spot has docks so you can boat in on your boat or drive up in your car and park in the parking lot. Backing out of the parking lot is a bit of a challenge as its on one of the more busy roads.
The food itself was great and we highly recommend the Tom’s Omelet! By the end of the trip, almost everyone at the table was ordering Tom Omletes because of how great they were. Their toast was always made to perfection, I highly recommend this spot!

Nice diner. Pancakes were awesome. Poached eggs were overcooked and not at all gooey/oozy. Waaaay too much hollandaise sauce too. Holy cow. Asparagus was cooked perfectly, sausage and ham were yummy. Overall, nice diner experience. Lovely location on the lake. Service was just average. Not super friendly, but decent.

Overall pretty disappointed here. Skillet was coated in some sort of gross oil and the hashbrowns weren’t cooked properly. Pancake with their “specialty” apples was thin, flat, lacking flavor, and the apples were burned. Biscuits and gravy were the best part and were still displeasing. We were so excited to go here and it just really missed the mark for us.

Ginger and her team took great care of our large group. The food is only surpassed by the magnificent views of Bíg Stone lake–and the quality customer service. If I could give more than five stars, I would!

Wow, that was awesome! They were slammed since they were the only place open on the Three Lakes chain, but everyone was hustling! The lunch menu was smaller, they said it was because they couldn’t get food out fast enough with the full menu, which made sense. Our food came out fast! It was hot, fresh, and yummy!
The staff was great, they were all super friendly and helped each other out!
And the view is the best!

As a server myself, I always try to keep an open mind when visiting new restaurants. However, my experience here left a lot to be desired.

First, the menus were in poor condition—they had multiple stains on them, which was immediately off-putting. I’d recommend laminating them to avoid turning guests off right away.

Our server, Skye, was clearly busy and running all over the place, so we were very patient with her. I understand how overwhelming it can be during a rush. That said, when I asked about their drink options, she didn’t seem to know what they offered. While I understand it can be hard to memorize everything with a full bar, it still made things confusing. I ended up ordering an iced tea, but it was super watered down and honestly just terrible.

Throughout the meal, I noticed that every staff member who brought items to our table handed everything directly to my boyfriend—even when it was obvious the item was for me. That small detail made the experience feel a bit dismissive.

My boyfriend ordered the 6-piece chicken wing appetizer. Skye mentioned it came with a couple of different sauces, which we didn’t receive until we walked inside and asked for them. Skye also wasn’t very attentive. Again, I get that servers are juggling a lot at once, but it got to the point where we had to go inside twice just to follow up because we were waiting so long.

We ended up just ordering appetizers: the garlic curds, mac and cheese bites, waffle fries, and the 6-piece naked wings. Everything was absolutely amazing—except the chicken wings. They were rubbery and didn’t taste good, which was disappointing, especially because both of us are big chicken lovers.

Overall, the food (aside from the wings) was great, but the service and presentation could use some serious attention. I’m giving honest feedback not to tear the place down, but because I know how much the little things can affect a guest’s experience.

What a great lake side bar/restaurant. The burgers were juicy and very flavorful. The music was fantastic. We enjoy lunch on our way home.

We’re hooked.
After years of coming to the Three Lakes area my wife and I finally visited the Sunset Grill. Boy were we surprised. I am a very picky customer, I’ll admit, and I had become accustomed to mediocre and sub-par food from local restaurants, but The Sunset Grill was a welcome change!
The Good: The food is spectacular. It is the usual diner fare, but the Grill sticks to what it does best- classic American food that is expected to be eaten on an empty stomach. The food tastes like you’re eating in someone’s kitchen, not a casual restaurant. The food quality is very good, obviously they are using good ingredients and keeping up with kitchen standards. The country fried steak is very good as are the pancakes (get the chocolate chips and whipped cream). The hash browns are golden brown and actually seasoned to have taste. The building is clean and homey inside with beautiful views of the lake.

The Bad: My only complaint is the hours of operation are a little wonky (call before you drive, just to verify the hours), but I know this is due to the staffing shortages we see everywhere. This leads me directly into the incredible.

The INCREDIBLE: Tony the owner was bussing tables and seating customers. To see an owner working as hard and as humbly as I watched him work was truly a breath of fresh air. Tony was genuinely nice and has an awesome staff. Kim was our waitress and was personable and excited to help. Kim was an amazing server and I’ll be glad to visit again soon just to say to her again. The kitchen staff. I didn’t catch their names but they worked tirelessly and turned out repeatedly great food. They are unsung heroes who I hope never leave the Grill.
All in all, a favorite experience of Three Lakes. A new tradition for my family!
