I’m not from this area, was craving crunchy tacos and decided to try this place out. The waitress was very nice and helpful. I ordered the chalupa, taco & enchilada plate. The plate came with a soup appetizer & ended with rice pudding. Everything from the soup, my main dish & rice pudding was so delicious! I want to bring my friends & family here now. Thanks! I wish I took a pic of my plate. It looked and tasted amazing.

This is the most perfect beautiful place to eat. If you are trying to do something romantic for your girlfriend or wife call before you go so that can know. I did that to propose to my girlfriend but she said no lol but they help you do something romantic for a special action without asking for anything. But since I got told no I still payed for my food but they are like family there lol the beer there are so cold and it’s an amazing place to drink

Came for the botana that comes with chicken, fajita, sausages, quesadillas and was left impressed! The portion was very big and the food was very flavorful and yummy! That’s the only thing I’ve tried off this menu but I highly recommend it.

We were in the mood of eating some Caldo de Pollo and I must say I was the worst experience. We had an hour lunch. It took 45 minutes for the food to come in with specifically ordered flour tortillas. They brought us corn tortillas. They don’t serve water in a cup. You have to purchase it for two dollars and the refills of TEA I think are a dollar that lady never came and checked on us. It was the worst experience that Caldo was literally missing vegetables. It was all water and the fajita Panchos that I bought. It was so bland. I will never recommend this place to anybody.

We went around 8 p.m., and the place didn’t feel welcoming at all. The staff seemed focused on closing early for the night. It smelled gross, and the restaurant looks very dirty and cluttered. The phone kept ringing nonstop the entire time, which was really annoying. The food wasn’t the best, either, especially for the price. If I’m being honest, all these small local restaurants here in Weslaco are pretty disappointing. It’s hard to find good places to eat these days.

We loved everything about this place. DELICIOUS authentic Mexican food! The menu also has American food. The waiter we had was amazing but looking around, all the waitresses too seemed so good and always smiling. Everyone greets you on the way in and thanks you for coming on the way out. Service is also fast. I had the best Mole Poblano chicken enchiladas I’ve ever had. They brought out chips with incredible salsas, and a bowl of cabbage soup. The menu is vast, and the bar drinks were fancy. But all the prices there were very reasonable. Another of my favorite things about this restaurant is the atmosphere. It’s a diner type place with amazing food, but the people everywhere were awesome. Lots of families, couples , praying before they ate, laughing, talking, and the wonderful staff. This is a place Anthony Bourdain would love.
Update: we went in last night with a group of 16. The food was amazing as usual, the service was correct, fast, fun, kind and wonderful! Jorge Palomarez was our waiter and TOP NOTCH! Thank you once again Sunrise for being so wonderful as we took our friends many of which had not been before. You gained some more customers for sure.

There were a few things I enjoyed about my meal at Sunrise, but overall this wouldn’t be my go to restaurant in this area. The salsa was good and I enjoyed the chips they serve. The green salsa was better than the red to me. Surprised with a complimentary bowl of caldo with my order which I also enjoyed. I didn’t care for my main course as much. The enchilada gravy was not made well and you could taste the flour from the roux. Carne guisada was tough and some pieces of meat were fatty. Rice and beans were average. I was also served a small cup of arroz con leche. I will say that I didn’t leave hungry. I would possible return to try another menu item and give it another shot.
