I also want to say that Sunrise Deli genuinely has some of the best sandwiches in West Haven, Connecticut. I’ve been a regular customer for a long time because I love the food, the quality, and the convenience, especially before work. That’s why this situation stood out to me it was out of character compared to my usual experiences there.
On the day this happened, I called in my order like I normally do a steak and cheese, a ham and cheese, and a coffee. When I arrived, my food was already ready, so I picked up my bag and then walked over to the gas station side of the building to grab a few snacks. The gas station is a separate business from Sunrise Deli, but it shares the same location.
While checking out on the gas station side, the cashier there asked me if I had paid for my coffee. I answered yes, assuming it had been included with my deli order as it normally is. The cashier then spoke to the deli employee and checked the receipt, and that’s when it was discovered that the coffee hadn’t been rung up with my order.
It was an honest mistake, but in that moment I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable, especially because I’ve always been a paying and respectful customer who supports Sunrise Deli regularly. I never intended to take anything without paying, and once everything was reviewed, it was clear that it was simply a misunderstanding.
I truly appreciate that you reached out and apologized personally. That meant a lot to me and showed professionalism and integrity. Mistakes happen, and what really matters is how they are handled afterward.
Sunrise Deli has always been one of my favorite places in West Haven, and I don’t believe one incident should erase all the good experiences I’ve had there. I’m glad we were able to squash this and move forward.

On a side note, I read the reviews and any bad ones are nonsense. They are clean, friendly, and delicious. Food takes time to cook when it’s freshly made. Be patient, people.
