So happy I stumbled into Sunnyside for breakfast! This is a local spot, no frills and nothing fancy but delicious wholesome breakfast food that hits the spot. The creamed chipped beef, scrapple, omelettes and grits are all delightful and fairly priced. If you’re looking for a place to instagram and post, this is not the spot – but if you’re a real person looking for some real good food in the area, definitely check it out.

This was our first time there. The place needed cleaning the mirrors were filthy at the tables area. The grill walls need a thorough cleaning and the grill space area is filthy. We asked 3 people that were coming out of the place is the food good. They all said good. Okay we’ll give it a try . Nasty they cooked everything with some kind of oil. Never going back there! The little waitress was sweet and we definitely tipped her!

So today 7-25-25 first, I’m gonna start by saying I eat here all the time almost every other day for months. I’ve never really had a problem with my food except for maybe they didn’t make the sandwich right or something like that but that’s not really a major problem today I go in. I get my sandwich. I literally live about maybe five minutes from the restaurantso I get my sandwich. I go back to my car. I drive home when I open up my sandwich there was an Aunt. so I get my sandwich. I go back to my car. I drive home when I open up my sandwich there was an Ant so I ignored it and I’m like I’m gonna eat my sandwich as I continue to look around, I see another aunt so now at this point, I’m turned off so I called the restaurant. I talked to the sweet servers that worked there. They put the Chinese guy that owns the restaurant on the phone. I get on the phone and I say to him that there was ants on my sandwich he’s like oh well we don’t have ants here mind you before I even called him. I searched my car to see if there was any ants on my car or anything like that there was no ants prior to me going there, but of course he denied that there were no ants, but my problem now is not even about the ants. It’s the fact that I’m a frequent customer there you know me by name the most you could have done was offered to make me a new sandwich instead he was in denial and sat on the phone and silence so at that point, I just decided to hang up the phone and I’ll just never eat there again. I can’t believe the customer service so two ants just randomly was in my vehicle after I got my sandwich that doesn’t make sense but again the customer service was horrible. If the service was better, I would’ve continued to eat there as I’ve been eating there for months, but the fact that they sat in silence and didn’t even wanna offer me another sandwich One again I’m a frequent customer. You know me my name is debacle so I’ll never eat there again. The two young ladies that worked there though are very awesome again I just don’t like the in denial and not trying to fix the situation with the customer instead, you chose to be in denial and not even try to offer a new sandwich or anything like that would’ve broke y’all to offer me a new sandwich but that was the last sandwich I’ll ever get from there. Sunnyside, off Ogontz Ave in Philadelphia, is my favorite spot to grab breakfast before my morning haircuts, and it never disappoints. They’ve got a great variety of options to suit any craving, but I always go for the turkey bacon sandwich on a long roll. It’s so good that I’ve recommended it to friends, and they’ve fallen in love with it too! Plus, their home fries are next-level, crispy and perfectly seasoned—an absolute must-have.
One of the things I love most about Sunnyside, beyond the food, is the diversity of the people who work there. The staff is always so friendly, making you feel welcome every time you walk in. It’s just a great vibe overall.
The only small downside is that it can get busy during peak hours, so I recommend ordering ahead by phone or online about 30 minutes in advance to avoid the wait. But trust me, it’s worth it! Sunnyside is easily one of the best breakfast spots in Philly.

Ordered Sunny Platter: Pork Round Sausage, Grits and Eggs it was absolutely delicious breakfast. Place near my neighborhood. Saw the breakfast place on DoorDash as an option. Completely worth the food experience. Will be ordering again in the future!
