The food was absolutely wonderful and everyone working was so friendly! We had the elote, pulled pork, sausage, and the brisket Philly cheesesteak and everything was to die for! Everything was so amazing we had to finish off with the banana pudding (like everything else – so so good). This place is a hidden gem, everyone should try them out!

This will be my new favorite spot for bbq out here. The sweet tea is good, not southern sweet, but best I’ve had out west so far. The sliced brisket is amazing, very flavorful. The regular cornbread is great, moist and sweet, sooo good. I will be coming here often. Happy to have found this place. The owners and staff are awesome, great meeting them and I’ll see y’all around!!

Update
Came back for the brisket grilled cheese. It was delicious, great flavor. This is NOT a regular menu item and may not always be available so it’s best to ask when you get here or call ahead and ask.

Food was kinda mixed for me. The chopped brisket sandwich tasted fine but was portioning was on the low side. The baked beans were edible but not very good and I wish I would have ordered something, anything, else as a side.

Staff, I presume the owners, were nice and served the 4-5 tables ona mid-Saturday with promptness and great attitude.

The place is cozy, kinda like eating at a friends house. I liked that.

Overall, it is good to see Palmer Lake have a place like this and I hope they keep getting better.

Fantastic barbecue!! The brisket Philly cheesesteak was an amazing combination – different from a brisket sandwich and different from a Philly, but amazing as a new third kind of sandwich. The cornbread with green chile is Hatch green chile (for my fellow New Mexicans). The bbq sauce was sweet with some apple and cinnamon in it – a delicious addition to the sandwich – BUT the sandwich was so flavorful it was excellent without the sauce even. My wife had the turkey and it was tasty as well. Friendly folks, cute homey vibe. Would definitely recommend!!

I was sorry to see Broken Bones shut down. Paid a visit today for the first time. Sundance is the best brisket in the county. I bought a pound of the moist. It’s quality, flavorful and amazing. We will be back to try other menu items and sides. GREAT JOB!

I can’t recommend this place enough! Real-deal Texas BBQ made with a giant offset smoker… As it should be!

Some of the friendliest people I’ve met work at and own this place. The atmosphere is also super cute and much larger than you’d expect.

Fantastic brisket and the “Texas Twinkie” was a wild ride with a jalapeno stuffed with brisket and cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. My boys loved the cornbread as well!

I’m looking forward to coming back for the turkey and cheese steak sandwich.

This is the best BBQ we’ve had in a long time. Been here several times now and food is consistently delicious and service friendly. Everything is amazing, but we especially love the sausage links, brisket and don’t leave without having the banana pudding!

This live fire pit bbq style imparts so much flavor! i savored a philly cheese steak sandwich made with delicious smoked brisket; wonderfully caramelized peppers and onions; cheese; and a nice roll. It came with chips and really hit the spot. Prices are super reasonable also. Best brisket of my life!

Update 08/30/25 – I am changing my review to 5 stars. We visited again, and if possible, the brisket was even better than last time. The depth of flavor was incredible and SO tender it almost melted in your mouth. The pulled pork was better this time, without the weird aftertaste. We tried the jalapeno corn bread, and it was also really good, quite sweet but not too much heat. An interesting flavor combo. We also tried the sausage and they were excellent, with great “pop” in your mouth and just a little bit of heat.

I kind of wonder why they aren’t open all week? It seems like they have found a winning formula, and could make a LOT more money open 6 or 7 days a week. Maybe they don’t want to have to hire and manage a bunch of staff, which I get.

12/24 – I wish Google would allow 10th’s in their stars, but they don’t and I can’t give 5 stars, implying it was perfect. This is not your traditional BBQ joint as they are open only 3 days a week, and obviously make enough BBQ for the 3 days. When they’re out on Sunday, they’re out. There’s also no table side service. You order at the counter which is at the front door, and they bring your meals out to you.

We were given a small sampling of delicious burnt ends for free before our meal came out – bonus! Service was super fast. It was barely 5 minutes from order to delivery. We split the sliced brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was some of the best we’ve ever had. It was quite fatty, but “fat equals flavor” as they say, and this had tons of flavor. The smoke layer is heavy, and there is no lack of flavoring through the meat. There’s also a heavy dose of pepper, so be prepared for a whack in the tastebuds! The texture was perfect – pull apart tender.

The pulled pork was pretty good, but the heavy seasoning was not as successful. The texture was also really good, but there was an odd aftertaste that I can’t really identify. We took some of this home and it re-heated pretty well. We also tried the slaw which was not great. Maybe it was just overpowered by the meat, but it lacked flavor. One of my guests had the brisket philly cheesesteak and he gave it 2 big thumbs up. Judging by how fast it disappeared, he loved it!

We missed the usual sides from other BBQ places – regular fries, sweet potato fries, okra, onion rings, potato salad, etc. But I suspect this is a very small operation sticking to what they do best. That’s smart.

The facility looks like it was originally a REALLY old house with tons of charm, low ceilings, small windows and very old oak floors. Value – at $70 including tax and tip for 3 with a beer and 2 sodas, it’s about average. We live close by so will definitely be back. I hope these guys continue to do well and survive in little Palmer Lake!

Loved it. The owners were very friendly and we enjoyed dining in very much. Their brisket was delicious especially with their unique apple BBQ sauce with a delightful hint of unexpected cinnamon! We also really loved the elote. We personally added the smokey turkey and liked it so much we took an extra pint home. Not usually being much of a coleslaw fan theirs was super creamy and yummy! I even had seconds. We will be back for sure!
