Awesome flashback diner on RT 66!
It doesn’t look flashy, but it makes up for it with great food
You will step back in time when you go here…when the appeal was good service and great tasting food
Homemade, fresh, huge Chocolate Chip Pancakes. Perfect and tasty bacon. Thick French Toast. Fantastic BLTs. And really large drink glasses.
They hit every mark and don’t break the bank. Just go.

Looks old and outdated but the food is spectacular! Service was also excellent. Got hash browns with meat and two eggs. This came with salsa and the taste was amazing. Also got a cup of menudo and it was made right and super good! This place is very good and deserves more than 5 stars.

Clean.
Spacious.
Kid friendly.
Affordable on a budget.
Not very busy.

Arrived at 9:30 and was seated immediately. Waitress took our breakfast order by 9:38. Food arrived at 9:44. Waitress was polite and attentive.

We all ordered the corn beef hash. And a biscuit and gravy to share.

The eggs left something to be desired. But the corn beef, hash browns and toast was wonderful. The biscuits were soft and cooked just right. The gravy was a little bland but nothing a little table salt and pepper didn’t fix.

I’d eat here again.

Price in total: 39.87

We ate here for lunch. I’m glad we passed i-40 going east. It’s just odd i-40 on the south side of old route 66. It’s very close to the blue hole. My wife had the patty melt it was on Rye Bread, a thin hamburger pattie, but excellent flavor. I had the chili rellanos plate 2, which was almost more than I could eat. Egg battered not really crispy but still great lots of cheese. I had the green chili sauce on top, very good, not spicey. The beans were very good, not refried . The rice reminded my wife of her grandmother’s Mexican rice. She was very happy. Chips and salsa were fresh. I loved the chunky salsa. We will be back.

Seems these guys are only open for breakfast and lunch. We were working across the road at the Dollar General, the store manager recommended them. We arrived only just before closing but they were happy to serve us. The food was yummy and the service courteous and attentive. Great place to grab breakfast or lunch, probably a shame they don’t serve dinner also. Thanks Sam for the recommendation.

We were driving through Santa Rosa and were hungry for breakfast. We found this place and were pleasantly surprised. My wife and I each ordered the pancakes and eggs. She ordered the ham and I chose the sausage. We shared an order of hash-brown. The meal and the service was outstanding. Very clean inside. Great old school diner experience. We highly recommend Sun & Sand Restaurant for breakfast.

Food was fair but if you are looking for true NM Chile go down a few blocks West. There is another place that has authentic Mexican food. While the chile here was tasty it was more like a thin mixture of wolf brand chili. I doubt we will be back but if you are starvin and no where else is open this place will suffice.
