Sun & Moon is a hidden gem we stumbled upon while visiting the city. I’ve walked by this place so many times and somehow never noticed it—until today. My wife and I weren’t super hungry, but we were in the mood for something tasty, so we decided to give it a try.

The atmosphere inside is beautiful—definitely a great spot for a date night. We ordered the Lunar Wings to share, and they were honestly some of the best chicken wings we’ve ever had—perfectly seasoned and cooked just right.

For dessert, we split the fried banana spring roll with vanilla ice cream, and it totally hit the spot after the heat of the wings. We’re already planning to come back soon for a full dinner.

I definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys delicious Thai food in a cozy, intimate setting.

Beautiful hidden gem place with amazing food and great presentations.
The noodles are amazing – balanced flavor and not too oily or salty.
Highly recommended!

I recently visited Sun & Moon, a Thai and Japanese fusion restaurant in San Francisco, and I was blown away by the experience. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the decor of the restaurant was stylish and modern. But most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. The flavors were well balanced, and the dishes were beautifully presented. The menu had a great variety of options, and I can’t wait to go back and try more.
I was also impressed by the sports bar area, it was perfect for watching games, and I don’t understand why more people don’t come here for that. I highly recommend Sun & Moon for anyone looking for delicious food, great atmosphere and an awesome place to catch the game.

This place is really great hidden gem. The selection of food is really wide and all we tried tasted delicious. They have a fusion of Thai and Japanese kitchen. The crab cakes were super fresh and ramen was nice and creamy. Drinks were very tasty too.

I live nearby so I have been to this place many times. I have tried almost all the dishes on the menu and they are all amazing!! Their flavouring is out of this world! Everything tastes very special!

I especially like the chicken wing and kobocha curry. The kombucha curry comes with pumpkin rice which is a nice touch.

Thai and Japanese restaurant, although I would say the menu leans more to Thai, with ramen being the Japanese highlight.

Plenty of seating, we visited on a Sunday evening and it was not overly busy.

Food:
We ordered the Lunar wings, crispy chicken wings with a spicy sauce. I could definitely taste the fish sauce in this dish. Was a tad salty for me, could definitely eat it with some rice on the side. Wings were all flats, which honestly was a bonus for me.

Then, as recommended by the reviews we ordered the pa lo stew which is braised pork belly and it comes with a braised garbled hardboiled egg and rice on the side. The pork belly was tender and fatty, the sauce brought notes of clove/cinnamon. Definitely a salty rice-chaser dish, again, a bit salty for me.

Lastly was the pad see you, thick stir fried noodles, you can choose your protein but we ordered ours with beef. I liked that it came with a decent amount of greens too. Deliciously flavored, the texture of the noodles is quite good. Solid dish.

Prices are fair. Service is a bit lacking, seemed like there were only 1.5 servers for 6+ tables.

Still I would return and recommend, a great place for Asian food in this area. There are lots of other dishes I’m interested in trying like the curry and the ramen.

Seating:

Plenty of seating to accommodate big parties and small ones.

In a recent visit to a this eatery, I encountered notable issues. Despite reserving a table for a mobility-challenged guest, the out-of-service elevator was a significant oversight not communicated to us. The food, while well-presented, offered a quirky twist on crab cakes, with crab atop corn cakes. Dishes in general tended towards sweetness, lacking desired spiciness and flavor as one would expect in Thai cuisine. Overall, the experience had potential but fell short in execution, I’m hopeful for operational improvement and giving it another shoot.

Wow… This is a local gem and we are fortunate to have found it. It’s a fusion of the culinary art of Japan (the Sun) and Thailand (the Moon), and hence its name: Sun and Moon. However, I would said that it’s mostly Thai with some elements of creative Japanese infusion. All the dishes we had were very flavorful and appetizing. If this is not explicit enough for you, they are delicious! Unlike your typical Thai restaurants, they even spend the time present their food in a way that makes them stand out and memorable. The restaurant is well lit and spacious and they serve a pretty generous portion too. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
