This spot has some of the best Nigerian food in LA fr. The jollof rice? Literally perfect. It’s not too spicy, not too bland, just packed with the right amount of flavor. So fire.
And the staff is always super nice. They’re really welcoming and chill, which makes the whole vibe even better. If you’re ever in the area and craving something flavorful and comforting, pull up. You won’t regret it.

This was our first time at Sumptuous, and we will definitely be returning soon! A good friend of ours who is Nigerian told us about this place, and considering that he drives all the way from Santa Clarita to eat here, we were intrigued. Not only was the food amazing, but the staff and owner were so remarkably kind. There are a handful of restaurants our family eats at on a regular rotation, and Sumptuous is now officially on that list. Thank you so much for providing such a delectable meal.
p.s. I write a review about once a year, so consider the source!

I always come here because the food reminds me of home. I have also told all my friends and colleagues. Sumptuous is the best for nigerian food. Fufu egusi and my best is their jollof rice with mix meat yum I drive several miles and usually takes me 45 mins. It is worth it all the way

I Highly recommend Sumptuous African Restaurant for anyone seeking a true taste of Nigeria cuisine.
They truly lives up to the name (Sumptuous)…..Every visit is a rich, flavorful experience. I always find myself going back there for their Edikang Ikong with some goat meat and jollof rice with plantain and some fried turkey , which are consistently delicious and taste like home.
The Edikang Ikong is perfectly seasoned, with a hearty mix of vegetables and they have mixed meat too if that’s your choice. The jollof? Smoky, vibrant, and unforgettable taste.
What sets this spot apart is not just the food, but the value. It’s hard to find affordable Nigerian dishes that don’t compromise on quality, and Sumptuous nails it every time. Whether you’re new to West African cuisine or craving the flavors you grew up with, this place delivers comfort and authenticity on a plate and the people are nice too. Always feels like home whenever I visit there to get me some food.

I gave this restaurant business when I first opened, but since then the quality has gone down, and the customer service is not good. I came in wanting to get an order of jollof and a few sides of fufu because my children particularly like the fufu. They refused to sell me sides of fufu Unless I purchased the soup. In the past, there was not a problem with me, ordering an extra side or two of fufu. The woman behind the counter was rude. Left me sitting at the counter after she saw me walk in when I told her I was ready to order then came back and told me I could not get a side of fufu when it’s on the menu for three dollars each per side. Food has energy and the energy in this restaurant is not pleasant. Therefore, I will keep my money and go somewhere where there is pleasant energy to go with good food.. And as a business owner myself it is disappointing to attempt to support small Businesses and be treated like my business doesn’t matter. Do better, it was just fufu. SMH

Joseph, the server is a decent person, as far as supporting the business’s reputation. I love the egusi soup but it was time for me to try the okro instead of assuming I know the flavor/ it’s something simple I can whip up.. I leave the restaurant with a rich focus awaiting to achieve life’s current challenges..

We drove all the way from Orange County and never regretted it. The Ofada stew was above perfect, the spicy nature was everything Nigerian. Above all the service was cordial and professional. Lastly make sure you try their puff puff
