The food was decent. I got the rainbow bowl which has all sorts of fish, seaweed salad, masato, and rice. Whatever sauce they use is sweet so if that’s your thing, this is for you. They give you a ton of rice and seaweed salad, which was good. I wish there was more fish to balance it out.

This place has friendly staff. I like their Thai tea compared to other restaurants. My husband and I ordered green curry, lo-mein, vegetable sushi, custard pumpkin and Thai tea of course. I love how fresh their ingredients are. The vegetables are not overcooked. Their house sauce adds a delicious flavor to the lo-mein. The green curry has a kick. We will definitely come back.

We came in on a slow Sunday night, only ones in the building. Very nice Atmosphere, Clean interior, and very nice people. The food was 110% 5/5, tastes fresh, and looks amazing!! Good drink selection and great happy hour!! We struggled to find a good sushi/asian sit down place but we have now found it!! This place needs to be on your list for sure!!

Chef Ming at Sumo Sushi and Thai is truly exceptional! Every dish is crafted with such precision, blending fresh ingredients into a perfect balance of flavors. My favorite dishes are the red curry (extra spicy!), the tuna dip with shrimp crackers, and the Volcano roll—all absolute must-tries. And if you’re an espresso martini fan, don’t miss out on theirs; it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. Chef Ming’s creativity and passion shine through in every bite, making Sumo Sushi and Thai a top-notch dining experience at amazing reasonable prices. That is a huge win living in downtown Nashville for over 18 years. Highly recommend! Tons of Parking in the back too! Double win!

Food 10/10! Service 10/10! Ambiance 10/10! The entire experience was 10/10. It was happy hour when I went. It’s Mon-Friday 4-6pm. They had BOGO wines and beers. I had Riesling. It was great! I had chicken satay for my appetizer and my friend had spring rolls for her appetizer. Both were super delicious! Chicken was tender and juicy. Spring rolls had the perfect amount of crunch. My friend has sushi. She said it was really really really good. She devoured the entire roll in like 5 minutes. For entrees, we had chicken pad Thai and dry egg noodles. Both were delicious! That was some of the best pad Thai I’ve ever had and my friend loooved her dry egg noodles as well. They had cute Christmas decor up and had great music playing. The entire staff was very friendly. The food came out quickly and it was hot and fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I’ll definitely be back.

I came here with my dad while he was in town, because he loves Thai food:) I’d never been here before, but I was very impressed with the menus and the service. The menus have all these beautiful pictures of the items (my dad really liked that; he’s not THAT old, but he loves pictures). My dad, enticed by the picture, of course, got the Dry Egg Noodle. I have no idea how he was on a call the entire time and still managed to finish his food before me… Guess it must have been good! My Teriyaki with Tofu was amazing. Just what I wanted and expected in a teriyaki dish; the tofu was fried to perfection.
I wanted to make a special point regarding the service here. Our waitress was so polite, friendly, and all smiles. She made me happy to be there, what can I say? I had some leftovers (my father did not), and she even boxed/saran-wrapped them for me. I don’t think I have ever been somewhere like this, that didn’t cost a fortune, and had my food boxed for me and brought back to me. It was the cherry on top of everything, really.
I won’t be forgetting Sumo anytime soon. I had a wonderful time with my dad, over some delicious food, and in a wonderful place. I hope to be back again soon:)

Me and my partner live next to this place and we love coming here! It’s convenient, the food is amazing, and the wait staff know our regular orders by heart. If you’re looking for great sushi rolls and Thai food, this is the place to be.

I had a wonderful meal at Sumo Sushi Thai and Bar. I was in the area, and if it had not been for the two employees outside handing out menus, I am not sure if I would have ended up there, but happy I did. This is an outpost of their Bell Road restaurant – Yoshi Sushi & Thai and they have only been open 5-days.
Service:
The staff could not have been any nicer or helpful. They offered menu suggestions, were super attentive and made me feel like I was one of their closest friends.
Vibe:
The space is comfortable, but a little cavernous. I spoke with the Sushi Chef, who is one of the family members who owns the restaurant, and he said it is still a work in progress. The mural on the wall was a custom mural and super fun.
Food:
On this trip I stuck with Sushi and it was fresh and delicious. I had both the R&B Roll (Spicy Crab, Cucumber, Topped with Tuna, Avocado Spicy Mayo, and Eel Sauce) and Ruby Roll (Shrimp Tempura, Cucumber, Topped with Tuna, Avocado, Crunchy and Special Sauce). I definitely plan on going back and trying some of their Thai dishes.
On a related note, I spoke with a couple from Ohio who decided not to wait in line at a nearby well-known hot chicken restaurant and I said they had made a great choice. I ran into them later that evening and they too had nothing but rave reviews of Sumo Sushi Thai & Bar.
I would definitely recommend you try this place!
