My fiancé and I tried Sumo for the first time tonight. Natives to Salem, but we just moved back, we had not had this yet. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS. Cooked to perfection & absolutely packed with flavor. We got sushi, crab Rangoon, & steak hibachi. Everything was equally amazing.
Our food was out fast, it was FRESH, & hot!!! But more than anything, our server Julia was INCREDIBLE. She was attentive, sweet, kind, bubbly, bright, & genuine. She was able and happy to answer any questions we had, patient with us, and made sure our every need was accommodated. I haven’t had service like Julia’s in a very long time. Everyone absolutely needs to try this place out, and when you come, be sure to ask for Julia. She is an absolute doll. Julia- never let anyone dull your light. We will be back!

Me and my son went there today, and we were the only ones in the restaurant the waitress was super nice and the food was great! It was prepared quickly, and everything looked and tasted very good. But this is the second time I’ve gone here and the waitresses always disappear after you get your food, and I have to flag someone down to get anything. No one refilled my drink or checked on us the entire time. My bill was almost 50 bucks for me and my son, which is fine, but for that price I expect better service.

Everything was bland and tasteless I do not recommend this place. No idea how they have 4.5 stars… Ordered the chicken hibachi with fried rice and extra veggies. Rice was WAY undercooked, crunchy, and not even fried rice. No egg, vegetables, or flavor in the fried rice. So terrible I didn’t touch it. The chicken was bland and overcooked sitting in a watery tasteless sauce. The veggies were practically raw, barely warmed up, and also bland… stay away from the “hibachi” here.

Never had this problem before. On 1/15/26 5:40pm was never waited on looked like and felt like refused to wait on us. We go there a lot. But not any more and will tell everyone I know not to go. They didn’t even apologize. That’s not a good way to conduct business. I see this place going out of business soon. Hire people who want to work.

We got there.The place was empty, which made us think the food not fresh maybe, but we decided to give it a try and it was a mistake! We got spoiled meat, rotten meat it was like gum and tasted so bad. We told the supervisor she replaced it for us with chicken cause what we ordered was steak and beef. The chicken also smelled bad so we didn’t even take the risk. My husband spent the night throwing out.I felt my stomach right away.I do have to say the service is good.The waitress was super nice.It’s not too expensive there and the portions are big, but if they serve meat or fish, not fresh, and it’s a health risk, it doesn’t worth anything.

Out of all the places I’ve tried Sumo in my opinion is the best. Everytime we’ve come in the service is amazing, the food is absolutely delicious and we enjoy our time. We’ve had a different waitress each time and the experience is always pleasant. We came 2 days ago and the waitress we had was amazing. She was very attentive and sweet.

I ordered out. I’m not sure if I caught the place on a bad day, but everything was so tough. It felt like the meat had a stiff layer that felt like chewing jerky.. I ordered $50+ of food, but threw away everything except a side dish. Can’t say I’d recommend or go back

Oh my gosh! Sumo was amazing! My husband and I tried it for the first time tonight. He loved his tiger and California rolls and I got the Filet and Shrimp Hibatchi which was so good! This place was so clean and the staff was friendly. We will definitely be back!

I’ve been to Sumo twice now. The first time I thought the food was really good but thought maybe it was just because I was hungry. The second time I realized that it’s just really good. I had the Hibachi scallops and they were exceptional. My wife got a bento box and it was really good. I highly recommend Sumo!

We have gone here multiple times and every time is delicious and affordable. Their coconut chicken is fantastic. Sushi fresh. Service always friendly and considerate. Recommend to everyone
