The dark car photo with the veggies underneath. Looks Amazing right!
The server was wonderful…just so sweet and attentive. Our chef was really great at engaging the whole table, really friendly and cool…I liked his personality a lot, but if I’m being honest the actual technique and show was just okay. It’s an art form and skill so I imagine it takes a lot of practice to master it.
Soup was good! Food was really salty and buttery…very heavy. And the price is way higher than I was expecting. If you share a plate, you’ll pay $12.50 extra for that entree, which is already $35+. Keep in mind you’ll also need to, at minimum, tip the chef separately. They add 18% for parties of 4 or more, so keep that in mind, too. Walked out of there about $200 lighter for two shared entrees and 3 fountain drinks.
The atmosphere…I remember it being nicer. It was just kind of dark and dank. Not very lively, but I can tell the staff do their best to bring the energy and mood up. The people there are great, so that’s a definite plus.
Mouth watering food, great place, friendly staff.
Thank you Sumo Japanese Steakhouse.
Once inside we saw a man cleaning ceiling vents between two hibachi grills while customers were seated, and being entertained by the chef. Which raises serious hygiene concerns. Everything felt damp: the carpet, the walls, the air, even the table area. At one point my arms were slipping off the table. Water was dripping from the ceiling onto our plate. That was it for me. We informed the waiter, who completely understood that we would be leaving and this was highly unacceptable.
The condition of this place is alarming. It felt unsafe and unsanitary. My new shoes were stained from the wet carpet, and I could have been seriously injured if my husband hadn’t caught me when I slipped.
This place needs a serious inspection. Safety and hygiene codes are clearly not being followed. I would not recommend it.
As we were leaving there was a man putting white towels all over the front entrance. Literally everything in this restaurant was completely soaked with moisture.
Note————
Addition from last night, I just realize that my brand new green shirt now also has a stain on the back from the moisture from the black bar chairs that I sat in at the table!!!
This is truly unacceptable on so many levels.
