Yum! Usually only do take out here, but their sushi is fantastic. Have never been disappointed. Try the sweetheart roll or surprisingly enough, if you are craving something with a bit of mango with a nice tuna- try the Mexican roll! Both creative and pleasing to the taste buds. When it comes to a new sushi place to try, it feels like a lottery – you never know what you win if you win at all. This time fortune brought us to the right place. Nice interior, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and great food.
We ordered some appetizers and rolls – they were creative and all had a good amount of fish, not overfilled with sauces, and all the ingredients accompanied each other very well. Our son liked his miso soup, calamari, and rice with veggies.
We all agreed to come back for hibachi – it looked very entertaining.

This is, by far, my favourite sushi place. Their alaska roll is my favorite thing and the avocados are always nearly perfectly ripe. I eat there in person, delivery, and take out frequently and am thrilled with all three. The alaska roll and holiday roll are both especially worth trying.

Worst dining experience i have had in the past 25 years. We went the hibachi route I was there with my wife and 2 children. Failed to bring out half of what I ordered and several things my kids requested. Server was not polite and when I told him that he missed much of what we ordered he merely shrugged his shoulders.
Chef was well below average re entertainment value. That is half of the experience!! Food was terrible. You could barely chew the steak and it was overcooked. Chicken not much better. We barely touched any of the entrees. We brought most of it home to give to our dog. I’m surprised he ate it but he eats anything.
Invoice was over $200.
By far, not even close, the worst dining experience i have had in 25 years. I will never visit again and I would advise anyone to think twice before going there.

The service was terrible, the waiter only appeared at the table once. I went to celebrate my son’s birthday and my experience was not what I expected. Only the lady who served in front of us was very kind. She went to the table alone to sing. No one else went with her. All the dirty dishes were on the table. My videos and photos were ruined because all the dirty dishes are there and they still dare to tip. I know they live off of that and I have no problem with them putting it in, but tips are earned through customer service. It’s a shame that people who don’t like their job ruin a good time.

Okay… I LOVE sushi, get it every week & I think this is the BEST I have ever had in Jersey. I was not expecting it to be so good but it totally exceeded all of my expectations. We got the King Tuna roll (which was my absolute favorite), the sumo roll and the Dynamite. They were all amazing. I will definitely be returning here way too often to try everything on the menu

Hibachi is a dining experience unto itself and Sumo is a very good hibachi place. The staff was attentive and seated us right away. They took our sake (it’s BYOB) and decanted it into a nice serving piece. It was a Monday and a slow night. Our chef was terrific, lots of fun and a great cook. We had the filet and lobster and he cooked everything perfectly to order. Both were tender and delicious. Prices are fair given the quality.

Sumo is hands down the best in the area as far as sushi/sashimi/rolls are concerned. The quality of fish is exceptional for being a large scale family restaurant, and the service is excellent. Gina and Tina are absolute rock stars and make us feel as if we’re family on every visit. Give it a try, you’ll be back for more. PS, it’s BYOB!

I have been going to this restaurant for over a decade now. I love everything that I have ordered there. They are always busy but service is always fast, efficient, and friendly! Even after I moved away, when I come back to the area to visit, it is always on my list of places to go when I’m there. Jack is great, even after not going there for a number of years due to the pandemic, he still remembers me. Any time there is something to celebrate with friends or family, if I’m in the area this is where I go!
