The “Volcano” Experience
The restaurant is most famous for its Wagyu Volcano Beef Hotpot, a visually stunning mountain of thinly sliced, marbled wagyu beef and fresh vegetables. Unlike standard hot pot where you build your own bowl, Sumo serves a pre-arranged “volcano” that simmers in your choice of broth—the Tonkotsu and Sukiyaki are the most highly recommended for their rich, savory depth.
Premium Sushi & Small Plates
Despite the “All You Can Eat” format, the sushi quality rivals many à la carte spots in the city.
Standout Sushi: The Yellowtail Belly with Truffle Oil and Bluefin Tuna are essential orders, known for their freshness and buttery texture.
Creative Rolls: The Miyabi Roll and the Golden Knight (spicy tuna and crab topped with fried white fish) are fan favorites.
Kitchen Items: Don’t overlook the Yakitori skewers, particularly the honey-glazed chicken, and the Fried Oysters.
Exceptional Value & Hours
Sumo offers tiered pricing to fit different budgets and schedules:
Lunch (Mon–Fri, 11:30 AM – 4 PM): $26.95.
All-Day AYCE: $36.95 (includes premium wagyu and specialty sashimi).
Happy Hour / Late Night: $19.95–$26.95 (starting at 9 PM).
The atmosphere is modern and energetic, often featuring J-Pop and vibrant anime-inspired decor. While it is a “hidden gem” in a small strip mall, it can be as busy as it gets on weekends, so arriving early is recommended.
If you are looking for the ultimate dining experience that perfectly balances high-end quality with wallet-friendly prices, look no further than Sumo AYCE Hot Pot & Sushi. This place is an absolute must-stop for anyone who appreciates fresh seafood and a hearty hotpot experience.
The Food: Freshness You Can Taste
The quality here is undeniable. The sushi is incredibly fresh—the fish melts in your mouth, and the rice is seasoned to perfection. On the hotpot side, the broth options are rich and flavorful without being overly salty, and the selection of meats and vegetables is pristine. It’s rare to find a spot that excels at both sushi and hotpot, but they knock it out of the park on both fronts.
The Service: A Masterclass in Hospitality
From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming and attentive. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, quick to refill our broths, and genuinely friendly. You never feel rushed here; they truly want you to enjoy your meal. It’s the kind of service that elevates a good dinner into a great evening.
The Value: Shockingly Reasonable
Given the premium quality of the ingredients and the top-tier service, I was expecting a much steeper bill. The pricing is extremely reasonable for the portion sizes and quality you receive. You walk away feeling full and happy, knowing you got incredible value for your money.
The Verdict:
Sumo AYCE Hot Pot & Sushi is a hidden gem. Whether you are a sushi snob or a hotpot enthusiast, this place will exceed your expectations. I cannot recommend it enough!
Overall – the food is fine. It’s not something we’d crave and say we’d come back for – but it was good to try.
It was true!!!All you can eat sushi, sahimi,Hotspot with Kobe beef and appetizers for just under 40 bucks per person.Yes Please.:-)
There are some caveats however some items are one time only orders but the majority of the things on the menu are not .There is a time limit, and ididnt see a saucespice bar like most Hotpot lhave.
Our server Bryan was a whirling dervish of friendly energy who guided us through the logistics of ordering and made the best suggestions. The food came fresh and fast. From the absolutely beautiful Sushi Rolls ,to Fried Oysters ,to different cuts of Kobe and vegetables for the Hotpot. So much good high quality food in such a wonderful atmosphere:-)and the little ice cream in coffee desserts were literally the icing on the cake:-)
Everybody in our party was so glad we chose this place.Cant wait to come back:-)
Check It Out
It is a nice place tucked in at the Smith’s shopping plaza . Super neat new place with a modern exterior and interior design .
The atmosphere is casual yet comfortable, and the service was excellent. The service was exceptionally fast and friendly, with staff promptly clearing plates and refilling drinks.
We spoke with the manager, Florence, who is so dedicated and hardworking person, she was bussing the tables along with the staff so you know she leads by example and hard work.
She was very welcoming and friendly, making our first time visit even more special.
We have tried the combination of hotpot, sushi, and skewers and everything was pretty awesome.
We have started with the Wagyu Volcano Beef hotpot – a MUST HAVE!
The all-you-can-eat menu has a great variety with plenty of choices, and everything was fresh and came out quickly. We were impressed by the variety and quality of sushi they offered… on top of that, they also have other dishes like sashimi, fried food and skewers -they were excellent!
Aside from the raw items, there are plenty of cooked options, which makes it a great spot for people who don’t eat much raw food.
The huge variety of appetizers, sushi, and hotpot options ensures there’s something for everyone, making it a great spot for groups with diverse tastes.
The AYCE is $36.95 per person and includes both Japanese dishes and hot pot.
Most other AYCE places have really poor-quality skewers, but this place is on a completely different level. One of the most impressive aspects of Sumo is the high-quality ingredients for an AYCE establishment.
Overall : it’s a solid spot if you want both sushi and hotpot in one place. We have truly enjoyed it and we highly recommend it!!! It is definitely a MUST VISIT for all sushi and hotpot lovers!!!
