I found a hidden GEM!
I was headed home from Clarksdale, MS and had seen a sign on side of highway 49 stating there was an Emmitt Till Museum. I decided to google and it was in Sumner, MS so decided to stop. The museum was closed but I had the opportunity to walk around the square (also court house where trial was held for men who murdered Emmitt Till) and walked past this restaurant not knowing that it was still open for business.
As I walked away, a gentleman (Marquis, the chef) came to door and we spoke. He informed me that they would open at 11am for brunch. I asked a few questions and he shared historical info with me that I actually recorded with his permission.
The service was excellent!! Vanessa was my server but all the employees assisted. They were all very friendly and this made me feel very comfortable. I love that they have an area with sofa and shelf with books so you can sit and read. The restaurant is also very spacious and clean. I love the outdoor bench. This is definitely small town USA meaning you can sit down relax and enjoy good food and company!
There were a group of people who come every Sunday after church for brunch. Vanessa told me that the population is about 400 so you can imagine that everyone knows everyone….
The food was very good especially the stuffed bell pepper and yams. They also had friend chicken and pork chops. I got the buffet which included a meat and 3 sides plus bread and of course ice tea. The total cost was under $13 which is very reasonable!!! They also have a regular menu to order from but I elected to eat foods from buffet.
I will definitely revisit when I return to visit the Emmitt Till Interpretive Center on the square. I highly recommend stopping by this establishment to enjoy great service and food!

Great lunch! Extremely friendly service. I was coming through town and stopped to get a quick carry out lunch. Chicken salad sandwich was delicious with enough on it to make two! Homemade potato chips were great. Can’t wait to go back when I am in the area.

poor service mediocre food. Had heard how good the lunch buffet was but it was not out today. 30 minutes for a burnt burnt burger and chicken salad sandwich and it wasn’t busy.
