I ordered a chorizo burrito that came with two phenomenal salsas. However, the burrito itself didn’t quite deliver in terms of flavor. It was not much more than a medium for the salsa all told.
The patio space is great, and the service was excellent. A solid spot for brunch if you’re in the neighborhood.
We started with the Ora King Salmon Crudo. It was good. I love capers, which is why I ordered the dish. The onions bring a strong flavor while the pear is more subtle, which balances everything nicely.
For our mains, we ordered the Squid Ink Orecchiette and the 44 Farms Strip Steak, with the Sweet Potato Papas Bravas as a side to share.
The Squid Ink Orecchiette was excellent and had a nice kick to it. I would definitely order it again.
The 44 Farms Strip Steak was ordered medium rare and cooked perfectly. The flavor was great, and it was paired with dressed arugula, which really brightened the dish and made for a great combination.
The Sweet Potato Papas Bravas were excellent as well. Soft on the inside with a great texture, and the butter had a really nice spice flavor that tied the dish together.
Our server also recommended a bottle of Duo, which was a nice pairing with the meal.
Service was great and the food was great. The only reason this ends up being a 4/5 instead of a 5 is a small detail, but one that stood out. As you can see in the photo, we were given a standard glass carafe for water instead of the green-tinted fish carafes that other tables had. It made our table feel a little less special and a little less coordinated overall.
We did ask if we could get one, but were told they had unfortunately run out. It may simply be that there aren’t enough for every table.
Small detail overall, but one that stood out during an otherwise really nice meal.
Summer on Music Lane is THAT spot…. the one you find by accident and then never want to leave. It’s connected to Hotel Magdalena, but it’s a total destination on its own.
Cassie, Brock, and David (hope I got that right!) are absolute gems. Their service/gift of gab is unmatched …. warm, real, and totally unfazed by my “I travel a lot and bring major energy” vibe. They made me feel welcomed, seen, and taken care of in the most genuine way.
Now, let’s talk margaritas: these are the best skinny spicy margaritas I’ve ever had in my life. When I say skinny, I mean perfectly balanced … light on the sweet, not too tart, just the right kick of heat. Literal perfection in a glass.
Whether you want to chill, charge your phone, have a great conversation, or sip something that makes you close your eyes and say “oh my god,” this is the place. The indoor/outdoor setup is beautiful, the vibe is effortless, and the people are next-level.
That said, there are a few things to note. Wine isn’t included in the happy hour specials, which is a bit of a letdown. Also, I really miss the turkey sandwich — it used to be a standout, but it’s since been removed from the menu.
On a recent visit, I gave the burger a try but probably wouldn’t order it again. The pretzel bun and caramelized onions made it tough to keep everything together — more frustrating than enjoyable.
Still, the fries are great, and the atmosphere keeps me coming back. Just hoping the menu gets a few of those gems back.
My first impression was during dinner time around 9 pm. We had a long night and were starving. There was no one at the front of the house and we just stood there for a good 5 mins and the staff could see us but no one came to sit or let us know an ETA. After a while my guest and I just decided to sit down and wait. We had to ask someone who was cleaning a table next to us for a server. We came here because we were staying at the hotel next door.
I had high hopes for the food so continued to get grilled artichokes as a starter. It’s a strange starter. The flavor was delicious however the way it was cooked was very unorthodox in my opinion. The artichoke was just put on the grill and not boiled. This caused it to be extremely hard to eat. I wanted to stop trying to eat it but the flavor was delicious. I would warn anyone who wants to try this starter to BE CAREFUL the leaves are basically impossible to eat except a small portion of it but it is packed with flavor strangely. PLEASE BE CAREFUL NOT TO CHOKE ON THEM. (I’m sure there’s a pun in there somewhere)
I got the burger with fries. The burger was definitely the highlight of the night. It was delicious and I would definitely recommend it. The fries were half fresh and half cold. I would say to try another side.
My guest got the tagliatelle. It was alright the noodles were a bit over cooked. The sauce was light and decent. There were some pieces of potato that were in the dish for some reason. We just wish there was more meat.
The next day we had breakfast before checkout and it definitely was a better experience. There was someone in the front of the house who took care of us right away.
We got the greek parfait and hash browns to share. They both were delicious and I would recommend these.
I got the French toast and I would not recommend it. It was very soggy and the coffee flavor was overwhelming. It’s sad because the bread that wasn’t soggy had an amazing texture that I wish was throughout the dish. I feel this could have been easily avoided if they just gave me the syrup on the side.
My guest got the breakfast burrito and hands down it was way better than my dish. I would recommend the burrito. The salsa served was top notch delicious.
Worth a try.
