Highest quality fish in town, hands down. The rolls are unique and flavor combinations work well without trying too hard. Definitely get the Oshi Zushi, the touch of lemon can’t be beat!
Edit to add: we’ve had Sumisu numerous times since my original review and it is divine every time.

This place was great! The service was great and consistent, the sushi was delicious, and the edamame appetizer was garlicky but super good. The waiter was very helpful in providing suggestions and ensuring we had a good experience. Would go again

Dinner was amazing!! I have been there many times in the past but this time it was exceptional! My former coworkers took me out to dinner -see photos- and the service was great! Angie, our waitress is always on it and knew my order while I was walking in the door! Thank you Angie!! You rock!!

Sumisu is a good spot for sushi in Pocatello. I found the rolls to be both Americanized and traditionalin style, depending on the roll. The restaurant is located downtown, “before the railroad tracks”. Parking is located on the west side of the restaurant. When the place is busy and full, parking goes fast. Sumisu is open only for lunchtime and for dinner, with a break between 2:00-5:00PM. The inside has a nice atmosphere and decorated well. I found the booth we were seated at to be strange, with the table being very wide and the bench seat to be short. We didn’t waste any time and skipped appetizers. None sounded particularly appealing, they were just your usual appetizers for a sushi restaurant. We order five rolls. The Dozo Domo, Hamachi Heaven, Portneuf, Yellowstone, and the Dynamite Shrimp rolls. The Dozo Domo is a chef’s choice roll, it was good, but not my favorite. The Yellowstone roll stole my spotlight. This roll has it all with seared ahi tuna on top. I highly recommend it. Also, the Hamachi Heaven roll was very tasty. This may’ve been my first time trying hamachi, so this roll was perfect. A very traditional style roll. Overall, I recommend getting sushi at Sumisu.

For me, Sumisu has some of the best sushi in Pocatello. Their presentation is on point. The atmosphere is classy chic. I’ve always had great experiences here. I highly recommend the seafood bisque and the gyoza as well. And you have to try the Fire Dragon Roll at least once.

We had a great time! Angie was so lovely to us and Isaac made us some delicious Nigiri when we asked him to have fun with it. I was celebrating and they really treated us well. ☺️ Support local! Especially when they’re delicious!! (We did Saki bombs and it was great)

They’re food is so expensive! But it’s worth every penny, is delicious, and sushi is generally expensive anywhere you go. Also good sushi is hard to find in Idaho. Ask for their recommendations. They’re all fantastic.

12/10 recommend! They were the only place willing to accommodate for me with dietary restrictions. I really wanted sushi but can’t have rice or fried stuff so they were able to make me this amazing bowl where I can make my own little wraps and it’s absolutely amazing and delicious. I will definitely be going back for my next craving!! Thank y’all so much! ❤️

This place is the real deal. I always make it a point to try a new sushi joint when traveling, and Sumisu has consistently held it’s place as one of the best.
They use the finest ingredients, employ masterful chefs, and produce that authentic blend of flavor, texture, and art that you would expect from a quality sushi restaurant. My go-to is the Tiny Dancer or Super Rainbow <3
The standout feature, apart from the incredible sushi, is the impeccable service. The staff’s knowledge and passion for the menu shine through and makes the adventure of trying new rolls even more fun. They also put a lot of work into creating a serene ambience, which completes the experience. We’re seriously lucky to have this place in Pocatello.
