This is a small neighborhood cafe that mostly does food delivery orders through PedidosYa, but there are a few tables inside for seating. The ramen was acceptable for South American standards, soy broth (not pork or tonkatsu as stated), but the noodles were way overcooked and the wrong type.
Still, the service from the girl working was excellent, and they had some cute decor, but not much in the way of imported goods.

As someone who has lived in Japan, I can confidently say that Sumi Sushi is the most authentic place to enjoy a proper Japanese meal in Montevideo. To my delight, the owner even speaks Japanese, which absolutely made my day!
I ordered the Gyudon, and it was excellent—flavorful and satisfying. This will definitely be a place I return to on my next visit to Montevideo.
If you’re a sushi lover or simply enjoy Japanese cuisine, make sure to stop by Sumi Sushi. It’s a true gem for anyone seeking authentic Japanese flavors!

Great lunch! Delicious sushi, the best I’ve had in the 12 years living in Uruguay. Great lunch plates, kids loved the flavors. Ramen wasn’t the best. But would go back. Great service too!

Solid place for sushi, it’s more of a restaurant for take out. But good experience overall. If you are looking for a casual, affordable place for Japanese food, this is a great option.

The delivery is good, timing ok and food was good. The noodles in the ramen seemed a bit like the ones from Nissin ramen and were overcooked, the soup and the veggies were good. The next day I went to the place to try the yakisoba and for my surprise, the noodles were exactly the same as the one in the ramen :/ — my apologies in saying that but that didn’t seem right, was that?! Overall, it was okay!!!
