The team at Sumatra are wonderful, always with a smile on their faces and happy to serve the community with great espresso and hot meals.
I particularly love the oat cortado and oat cappuccino, and then the Vegan Tofu sandwich, Tempeh Wrap and Vegan Steak sandwich. It’s super appreciated that they have great, affordable vegan options in this area.
Lots of seating too so it’s a great place to hang out right next to Jenkintown-Wyncote Station if you’re taking Septa.

I got The Luxe Bagel with the Peppermint Bark Latte and it was absolutely delicious! The Luxe Bagel has to be one of my favorite lox bagels and the latte got me into the holiday spirit. I always appreciate how they greet you as soon as you walk through the door and their contagious joyful energy. You never disappoint Sumatra, thank you so much!

I absolutely love this place. Every time I come here, I order a Chicken Caesar salad, and I can’t help but fall more in love with this place each time.
First, I usually don’t add dressing to my salads at all… but theirs… omg, it’s delicious! Second, every single person who works here is kind and respectful. I always leave this place with a smile. Third, my order is always ready quickly. And fourth, the place itself is beautiful, with lovely little plants that make the space even more enjoyable.
And as if that weren’t enough, the prices are absolutely reasonable.

We got takeout from Sumatra for breakfast and we’re so happy with the choices and quality! We got the fig and prosciutto sandwich, as well as a breakfast sandwich, and the ube matcha latte with oat milk. The fig sandwich was super crispy, and though the fig is pretty sweet, the prosciutto and arugula balance it out well. The ube matcha latte was not a bright green, and the ube flavor overpowered the matcha. Though, it was sweetened well, but not the best place for a matcha craving. I’d love to try their other sandwiches and brunch options!

If you’re looking for delicious coffee, you definitely have to try Sumatra Cafe!
I recently moved to the neighborhood, and it has quickly become one of my favorite coffee spots. The staff are always so welcoming and kind, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Best of all the coffee is absolutely amazing! I’m obsessed with their lavender latte with oat milk, but I’ve also tried both their hot and cold brew, and everything has been fantastic. Highly recommend!

My husband and I go to Sumatra cafe for breakfast once a week. Their breakfast wraps are insanely good – by far the best I’ve ever had! I also love their specialty lattes. The matcha is excellent. Everyone who works there is so friendly and kind. Highly recommend checking this place out!

The breakfast sandwich was absolutely delicious and I will be dreaming of that. Hot and fresh when I arrived to pick it up. Placed and order online and everything was hot and ready when I arrived. That sandwich was just amazing flavor and texture. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you.

I have been coming here regularly since its opening. There has always been a continuity of staffing, even after the original owners passed the baton to one of their own staffers, who now runs the place with essentially the same crew. Everyone is friendly, efficient, and hard working. Everyone works as a team. The menu has evolved somewhat over time, and they occasionally sneak in an Indonesian dish or treat, or soup in the winter. I love the breakfast sandwiches, croissants, and coffee drinks, but the lunch sandwiches and paninis are great , too. They make some of their own pastry and get others from Le Bus. Prices are reasonable and portions are always large. You can always expect a smile and you often hear laughter from behind the counter. Free WiFi and plenty of space to hang out and work or play (there are games, too!). Parking in the rear and also street parking on Greenwood Ave. Lots of regulars. If you live in the the Jenkintown-Glenside-Elkins Park area, you won’t find a better breakfast/lunch cafe, for eat-in or takeout.
