I visited this Thai restaurant for the first time to celebrate someone’s birthday. Overall, it was a decent experience. The food was okay, and the service was fine — the staff were polite and attentive enough throughout the evening.
I really enjoyed the appetizers, especially the spring rolls. They were crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. I also liked the pineapple fried rice; it had a nice balance of sweetness and was very enjoyable. However, I didn’t really like the tamarind beef nor the pad Thai — they just weren’t to my taste compared to the other dishes.
The presentation of the food was beautiful, which I appreciated. Everything looked very appealing when it came to the table. For dessert, it was a little too sweet for me, but it was still nicely prepared.
One thing that disappointed me was being charged extra for a small portion of chili oil/sauce and they didn’t even bring it. It felt unnecessary since that’s usually a basic condiment at Thai restaurants.
Overall, it was a good experience with some highlights, but a few small things could be improved.
The cake fee charge was $2 per person for cake we brought from outside.

Had such a great time at Sukho Thai! We sat out on the patio and everyone greeted us with big smiles. There was even a DJ and a photographer, which made the vibe extra fun. The spot is tucked into a small plaza, super easy to find with lots of parking.

Food was delicious across the board, but my favourites were the Tom Kha Gai and Masaman Beef – so much flavour and even reminded me a bit of Filipino dishes. Cocktails were a highlight too. We had the Ruby Tuesday (cocktail of the day) and the Magic Number – both dangerously tasty.

Overall, awesome atmosphere, great food, and amazing drinks. I’d definitely come back!

I used to go to the downtown location all the time and the taste is still relatively the same at the Markham location. My favourite dish by far is the Khao Soi made with beef, the beef is so tender and melts in your mouth while the sauce is packed with flavour and super delicious. Their mango sticky rice was also very good, however I personally would have made the coconut sauce less sweet to better complement the rice and mangos.

Both food and service was excellent. Decor was nice with decent music.

Came here with parents to get something spicy and it was everything I had hoped for. Good level of spice and the green curry was creamy and aromatic. It was excellent.

My only nitpick (and this is a common theme I find with Thai places) is that the rice is never enough and I always have to order an extra one. I don’t know if it’s actually not enough or just that the curry sauce goes so well with the rice that it just makes you want to eat another bowl.

Visited Sukhothai for dinner with a group of 6. The space is trendy and nicely styled. Parking was easy. Service, however, was quite slow and felt lacking, which stood out more because they automatically add an 18% autogratuity for groups of 6. I don’t mind that when service is strong, but that wasn’t the case here.

I had the Khao Soi with braised beef (add +$1). The broth was creamy and flavorful, and the beef was very tender and soft. But the portion felt small for the price, and the food didn’t come out hot, which took away from the experience.

We also ordered a few other dishes:
Sukhothai Pad Thai with beef (mild): decent overall
Fresh Rolls with beef (add +$1): flavorful with a surprising kick
Braised Beef (add +$1) Masaman Curry: Thick sauce, potato, and your protein of choice. It was quite rich, but tasty. There is not enough rice to balance it out. It would also go better with a few lighter side dishes.

I like that you can choose your spice level for most dishes, but overall, the experience didn’t leave a strong impression. The small portion of food took over 30 minutes to come out, and with the high gratuity, I expected better service. With so many other Thai spots nearby that are more affordable and consistent, I’m not in a rush to return.

The food was absolutely delicious — one of the best Thai restaurants we’ve found outside of Toronto. The atmosphere is very family-friendly, and the staff were attentive, welcoming, and full of great recommendations.

The mango sticky rice was a standout dessert, and their house-made chili oil (which you can even buy to take home!) is incredible.

Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be back!

Would definitely come back. The food was delicious and fresh! Service was wonderful. We sat at the bar given it was a Friday night and packed – had a wonderful time. The grabong was perfect – meaty and crispy!

Went with a group of ten people for a staff holiday dinner. Everything started off well but then mistakes were made on our orders. Wrong dishes for the wrong people, I asked twice for coconut rice but got basmati, one of us had to wait so long for the right meal that the rest of us were already finished eating before it arrived. The server, after serving us, disappeared for a long time. When she reappeared and we ordered dessert, again it took forever. The restaurant wasn’t even close to full, so don’t know why everything took so long. Then, on the receipt of the person who got the wrong meal, tax had been added incorrectly so she was charged more than she should have been and we had to get that corrected, too. Overall, even though the food was good, there are much better Thai restaurants with better service.

Ordered Sukhothai take out for dinner and I’m happy to report that the food quality is on par with their downtown locations.

Ordered chicken pad thai – Thai spicy. This is not for the faint of heart. I handle spice very well and this spice level hit the spot. I do not recommend thai spicy is you don’t handle spice very VERY well. Also ordered a red beef curry – the beef was very tender, and a mango salad – plenty of mangos!

The restaurant is new and nicely decorated and the covered patio is perfect and will keep you shaded if you want to visit during hot summer evenings.

Absolutely worth a visit!

A bunch of us foodie friends have birthdays in July. We wanted to get together to celebrate and enjoy some food. We gathered at Sukhothai for a feast filled with laughter and memories.

Drink of the Day: Purple Rain
Mango Salad
Lettuce Wraps
Grabong (Squash Fritters)
Gaeng Kiaw Wan (Green Curry)
Beef Khai Soi
️ Chicken Pad Thai
Chicken Pad Gra Pow

We ordered a few different dishes and shared amongst our group.
I’m normally not a fan of green curry and prefer red, but theirs was delicious; Creamy and flavorful.
The Khao Soi was so good. I slurped up every last bit of sauce / gravy
The lettuce wraps were delicious. Six to a plate which was perfect for our group! The squash Fritters actually surprised me. The perfect combination of softness and crunchy. The tamarind sauce paired well.
We were all pretty full but ordered a mango sticky rice and shared for dessert.
Staff were great and food didn’t take too long to prepare.
