My daughter and son in law stopped by here recently on their way to a new camp they purchased. They were very impressed with the friendliness of everyone and the awesome food choices.
This was our first trip down this way, so we had to stop, too, and check it out !
This is not a huge town, but the parking lot was FULL when we got here – about 1 in the afternoon.
When we walked inside – after taking pics of the cool exterior paintings – the restaurant area was full with happy customers.
It’s a small place in the side of the road, but sure is huge in hospitality and warmth.
The menu has a good selection of good, Cajun dishes.
One half of the store is the restaurant, the other is your convenience store items you might need – cold drinks, chips, etc…
They have a freezer by the check out of you need a dish to go. We didn’t want to show up empty handed so we picked up some shrimp and crab gumbo – they even have precooked rice so you don’t have to worry about that.
Do you like PECAN PIE…?? Stop by and get you one ! There is a selection of other pastries, brownies for one, and a few other choices.
Def stop by if you are passing thru !

I tried the famous Turtle Sauce Picante and the Shrimp Stew. Both were very tasty and delicious. My only complaint would be that I wish there were more pieces of turtle in the plate lunch. We went on Good Friday and it was very busy and a bit hectic. The poor ladies working there were doing the best they could, but were definitely overwhelmed. This place is a must try!

We saw this place on an Anthony Bourdain episode and knew we had to try it. We drove 3hours from New Orleans just to try it and it was our favorite dining experience of our whole trip. The ladies working were really friendly and made us feel comfortable and right at home. We ate the crawfish ettoufette, oyster po’boy, and the best pecan pie we’d ever had. I wish I had 5 stomachs so I could’ve tried everything on the menu!!

This is an old time grocery and restaurant type place on the outskirts of kaplan Louisiana. I believe they have been there since 1976. The people there were very friendly. Walking in here feels like stepping back in time. They have a vast array of options to eat. Their specialty is turtle sauce piquant. I tried this dish and it was very very good. It comes with a fried catfish fillet a roll and a piece of lemon cake. We also had the seafood platter and the daily special plate lunch which was spaghetti that day and we got a piece of pecan pie which they sell by the slice or by the entire pie. They also make excellent triple Decker BLT sandwiches. Everything was excellent. I plan to go back and get some of their items they have in the freezer section such as brisket and corn soup and shrimp stew among other things

This place was on my bucket list. We made it a priority to visit and eat here. And it will always be a memorable occasion. We ordered shrimp po’boys, fish sandwiches and a few sides. It was a pleasure to meet the friendly owner and listening to her describe the items on the menu. Great experience!

We stumbled upon this gem of an experience during a road trip. I will refrain from using all caps even though I want to yell about how awesome the home-cooked food is. I had the seafood platter and my wife had the gumbo. It was all amazing. They had hundreds of fresh made pecan pies on hand for Thanksgiving, too. Had a great conversation with the owner and she had so many kind things to say, and thanked us profusely for stopping by. Everyone was so nice.

Foodies, add this to your bucket list! This is as cajun as cajun gets. Everyone is super friendly and nice and loves a good conversion. My wife and I both agree that this was the best catfish we have ever had in our lives. We both ordered different versions of ettouffe. They both came as full meals and more. We also bought some items to go, like fig bread, fig tart, peach tart, and pecan pie… All homemade of course. We came here because it was one Anthony Bourdains last visits before he died. He was spot on!
