Located in a historic small town in Mississippi, Sugaree’s Bakery creates made-from-scratch Southern layer cakes in traditional ways from generational family recipes. An homage to owner Mary Jennifer Russell’s childhood memories baking with her mom, she believes baking this way not only produces unmatched quality and taste, but it also creates a connection to our past, one of family and community.

A wide variety of desserts & sweets to choose from- some gluten free options occasionally! We love the brownie, tea cakes, white cake, strawberry cake/cupcake, hostess cupcake, and red velvet cake. Those are some of our most favorite ones that we always get when at Sugaree’s! It is pretty good priced- not super duper cheap but it’s not $5 for a teeny tiny item either. Definitely worth your $$$

Sugarees made me very happy with an incredibly delicious gluten free macaroon.They also have a gluten free peanut butter cookie. I will share a pic of the macaroon (but ate most of it before I could get a good picture ). Very sweet, helpful lady up front.

We went to Sugaree’s this afternoon for our first visit. We purchased several items. We purchased cupcakes, wedding cookies, and a slice of pound cake. The quality of the desserts is phenomenal. You can absolutely taste the goodness in every bite. I must mention the frosting on the chocolate cupcake. The frosting is smooth and reminds me of homemade fudge, but not as heavy. A tall glass of very cold milk with the chocolate cupcake is perfection. I have never experienced a bakery that offers such a high quality product. Please treat yourself to a Sugaree’s experience. ❤

Sugaree’s is a true delight of a treat! Their cakes are the best in the south, and that’s a hill I will die on! The staff wasn’t very personable, but it was my first time visiting, so perhaps it was an off day and I won’t judge harshly on that. If you’re reading this JUST GO! You won’t be disappointed. Everything we tried was delicious. Caramel cake 10/10. Ding dong 10/10. Italian crème cake 10/10. Red velvet 7/10. We haven’t eaten the brownie yet but it has to be good based on the other desserts. The red velvet icing is delicious, but the cake didn’t pass muster.
When you walk inside, there’s a bakery counter and a center display with samples. There is no seating inside. This was a very traditional bakery. There’s also a freezer where you can purchase frozen whole and half cakes and pies. Beyond cakes, brownies, and pies, they have cupcakes, pralines, lemon squares, and more.
Service was great. And they package the desserts well. However, the server said they do not have a public restroom when my Mom asked. If you need to use one, go to city hall just across the street or a nearby restaurant.

Best bakery with killer cakes! Strawberry, coconut, and caramel are divine. Last time we got two half cakes for a birthday and they wrote “happy birthday” on them. Come on Friday and try the chocolate pie. P.s. cupcakes are to die for also, and I don’t usually care for cupcakes.

Sugarees’ strawberry cake is my favorite. So I ordered 3 for my wedding. They arrived on time and in perfect shape here in Florida. They were delicious! I decorated it with sugar flowers I made and greenery from my garden. Although the flowers were a bit affected by the unexpected heat that day—the cake did great. I’m looking forward to ordering another cake on our anniversary in April.
