This place does not get the love it deserves. The service is great, the food taste and presentation is excellent, and it is all affordable!
This place does offer both sweet and savory crepes in addition to coffee/espresso drinks, and other sugary pastries.
There is limited interior seating as well as few outdoor seating options. Parking is ample and dedicated to Crepe customers. I go here every chance I can since their crepes are awesome!
I highly recommend visiting the place and having a snack/meal!
Sugar Studios Crepe Cafe, apparently this little, and I mean tiny, cafe has appeared on my radar today but has been established for eight years. In my defense, I don’t frequent old town Silverdale, even less so now due to significant construction going on in that area.
None-the-less this little cafe is all about hand-spun crepes, from sweet to crabby (yes, I am talking about the food and not my personality, lol).
I like that Sugar Studios’ menu isn’t enormous; instead, simple with enough items to give you a choice and not significant to make you feel overwhelmed. There is a flavor for everyone.
Sugar Studios also offers up some baked items, baklava, cookies, and cinnamon rolls, and you can have that while drinking one of their espressos.
Now, although I can’t give you personal feedback on their crepes, cookies, or cinnamon rolls, I certainly can give you my opinion on their espresso and baklava.
Honestly, who doesn’t love layers of airy, flakey, lightly crispy phyllo dough layered with sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, honey, and pistachios? Ok, I can’t verify if they use pistachios; it could have been walnuts; it was so yummy it didn’t matter to me! And not one layer was soggy, even though it rode in my car for four hours.
Of course, I had to try an americano, there it is again, that creamy caramel background flavor; savory aroma, mild acidity, and little to no after taste, my one minor grumble, and this is a personal thing, is I love my coffees really hot, most people I know would think the temperature of this americano was perfect, including my hubby, in my opinion, and only my opinion, warm that baby up just a few more degrees!!!! But this americano was still really spectacular.
It definitely fits in my top contenders for an excellent americano. And if I were only ranking the drink, it would be 4.5 (out of 5) Stir stick rating =D
About the little cafe itself, everything is pretty open, meaning you can see where things are being prepped, prepared, and cleaned, so that was a little unusual to me; however, watching her make the crepes were pretty cool. There are three tables located inside, so best to place an order to go or plan on eating outside on a sunny day.
The door to enter isn’t in a prime location; it falls right next to one of the tables and very close to another table off to the left. So if four people are sitting at the table to the right, you could easily bump right into them as you enter the cafe, as I almost did with my purse with just two people sitting at the table to the right. It definitely can’t have more than a couple of people standing and ordering; space just isn’t permitting, so call ahead or wait outside.
There were a few marked parking spaces for Sugar Studios crepe cafe; I can imagine that most of these little businesses rely on on-street parking on busier days.
Also, you are within a few blocks or less of Silverdale Waterfront park; you could possibly park there and perhaps walk over.
Daleen, I felt, was the owner, although I did not confirm that. She was pleasant and friendly, with excellent customer service all the way around. If you meet her, you’ll like her!
I’m looking forward to trying a crepe and another one of her fabulous americanos.
