Honestly one of the best vegan burgers I’ve ever had! Plenty of vegan options to choose from to leave you feeling satisfied. I loved how many donuts there were to choose from, we left with half a dozen we just couldn’t choose!

I’d never been to a Sugar Shack before and honestly didn’t realize it was a chain until I looked it up afterward, but I wanted to see if their donuts lived up to the hype. For a Saturday morning, I was pleasantly surprise! No wait, not too busy, and plenty of options to choose from. The selection here is solid, with both the classics and some fun, over-the-top creations.
I decided to branch out and try a matcha latte since I was intrigued to see it on the menu, but unfortunately that’s where things fell flat. It really just tasted like oat milk with no real matcha flavor (and I tried it before eating any donuts to get a fair idea). I don’t know exactly what I expected from a donut place, but if it’s on the menu, I’d hope it would be good. Maybe best to stick with the donuts—or perhaps the coffee side of their name is stronger than the matcha.
That being said, the donuts themselves were fantastic—the lavender and Samoa were absolutely to die for. Service was quick, and the girls behind the counter were so sweet. All in all, a great experience, just not the place I’d go for matcha.

We visited the Sugar Shack today and had a very disappointing experience.
We ordered food and three drinks to go because we planned to eat at the park with our kids. However, we ended up waiting almost an hour just for our drinks, which is ridiculous considering there was no line and not many customers. Only one person had a take-out order before us.
The lady preparing the drinks did not seem focused on her job at all. She kept walking away, coming back, talking on the phone, and did not appear to be in any rush to serve customers efficiently. It made the whole experience very unpleasant.
Instead of enjoying our food and drinks at the park, we ended up eating there and by the time the drinks were ready we didn’t even want them anymore. After waiting an hour, you start regretting coming in the first place.
We were also not the only ones waiting that long. Another customer almost lost her patience as well, and only then did a male employee step in to help.
Please address this with your staff. This used to be one of our go-to places, but after this experience it doesn’t look like we’ll be coming back for a while.

Absolutely the best donut shop. The donuts are amazing, it’s a cute atmosphere- especially when they decorate for every holidiay, and the staff is absolutely phenomenal. This is VERY overdue but Adi ( I hope this is the right spelling of her name) is one of the main reasons I continue to go here. She is ALWAYS positive, comments on how my children are growing up, and even when I do not come in with the kids, she knows my order/ name…. Which probably means I order donuts too much… But there’s no such thing as too many donuts, right? Absolutely love this place.

So are there never vegan gluten free options? I called twice to double check there were vegan options that were gluten free for your gluten free 3rd Thursday event and was given a long list both times of gluten free options that were also vegan. Drove in today just to be told none of the gluten free doughnuts were vegan? If you never do it that’s understandable, but there needs to be better communication as it was 1 hour drive out of the way, which is why I called to double check on two seperate days! For a bakery that has mostly vegan doughnuts the whole situation was very disappointing. (Also I have had vegan gluten free doughnuts from sugar shack years ago so there was definitely a time they were being sold)

Generally, I’d say Sugar Shack Donuts is a great place. Granted, we came to this location right before Christmas—on Christmas Eve—and they were closing early. We didn’t realize it because we failed to read the sign on the door.
When my wife went in, the employee immediately said, “We’re closed. We can’t help you.” I asked what they were going to do with the remaining donuts, and the employee said they were going to give them away. My wife then asked if she could get two donuts, and the employee responded, “No, we’re closed.”
We’re not upset about not getting free donuts. It was more the lack of customer service and how the message was delivered. A more polite, professional response would’ve made the experience much better.

They have gluten free buns for the burgers!! They offer beef, turkey and fake meat burgers along with a chicken sandwich and a crab one. I go once a month for gluten free donuts. They are HUGE (and expensive but they are the only one so they can do whatever they want lol). My burgers bun was dead cold and crumbly and my meat was awesome. I just took the top bun off. My 6 donuts (they had 9 gluten free total) will last me 12 days! They are that big! (And I am diabetic so I will just eat half to be slightly healthier)

On any trip I always look for a cool coffee shop to try and this one did not disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised to find they had vegan options in more than two donuts, I had the French toast one and it was AMAzing! I also ordered their honey oat milk cold brew and its was delish . The workers were super sweet and helpful . If I’m ever in this part of Virginia again I’ll definitely stop in .
