Being born in the Bronx, my childhood set me up with certain expectations for pizza. Sugar River New Glarus executes the little things that make the overall experience and food memorable each and every time we’ve been in the last 5 years. The food, the atmosphere just works and it keeps us coming back. Are there other places to get pizza? Yes. But none of those places have Phill. Phill is why we go out of our way to get some good pizza. I have a call to action for you reading this review. 1- Help me in ensuring they keep the Hot Mess they dropped for the fall on the menu forever.

Also, you will not find a better gluten free pizza in WI. Trust me. We have tried. It’s not out there.

Stopped here for a late lunch after the New Glarus Brewery. Ordered pepitas (fried dough covered in cheese and bacon + ranch on the side) for an appetizer — soft, chewy, and flavorful — followed by taco pizza. The taco pizza was excellent and we loved that we could add our own toppings. Great food!

After a successful bridal gown shopping spree down the street at Brandi’s Bridal, our group of grandmas, moms, and bridesmaids made the natural next stop—Sugar River Pizza in New Glarus!
Apparently, we had the look—the manager clocked us as a post-bridal-shopping crew the second we walked in. (Turns out, that’s a thing here!)
We grabbed a big table and dove into some seriously good eats. The cheese bread? Golden, gooey, and gone in seconds. The fried cheese curds? A Wisconsin must. And the drink selection kept everyone happy.
But let’s talk about the pizza—the crust was that perfect combo of doughy and crisp, and the toppings were anything but basic. Our table shared the “Mac Daddy” (think bacon cheeseburger on a pizza—yes, it’s as good as it sounds) and a creamy Chicken Alfredo pizza the ladies couldn’t stop raving about.
Nice interior and even nicer patio dining for summer days! Street parking and walkable to other fun shops in town!
Great food, fun service, and a memorable way to toast a bride-to-be. Highly recommend this spot for any celebratory group—or just because you love a good pizza! . The town is so cute I wished I had more time to shop at more of the local stores! Made me decide to come back for a weekend soon!

Stopped in for appetizers and use our New Glarus beer tokens. Bread sticks with Mariana and goat cheese is an outstanding combination!
Jalapeno poppers were fantastic.
The Combo platter has delicious cheese curds, onion rings, waffle fries and boneless chicken tenders cooked to perfection.
The homemade blue cheese dipping sauce was out of this world!
10/10 would recommend.

First time here, pizza was so good, better than expected if I’m being honest. Pizza is also really good as cold leftovers and I’m not one to typically like cold pizza. Kenzie is such a doll, very helpful whenever we had questions. Will definitely be coming back <3

We stopped in again on 10/19/24 And had Sierra as our server. Again everything was great!! I had the BBQ pulled pork on flatbread and my wife had lasagna soup which was very good and super filling. It is nice to find a place you can look forward to going to and Sugar River Pizza is that place!
My wife and I are here again 7/8/2023 and nothing has changed. Everything was great and our server Rita made sure we had what we needed and made a great beverage recommendation to my wife! We love the Sugar River State trail and love Sugar River Pizza that’s right on the trail.
My wife and I ate here on Saturday 7/23/2022. We were seated right away and our waitress Sierra was very prompt and attentive. We had the Garden Belle pizza and it was delicious for sure. Some may have found the crust a little over done but I was fine with it.
We ate outside on the covered patio and the music was relaxing and not to loud. As far as the prices go I feel they were well within line with other establishments and not over priced in any way.

Up there with the best pizza I’ve ever had. Very fresh ingredients. I easily could have eaten the whole thing. Owner is personable. I would order from them regularly if they were closer.

We did not enjoy anything from this location. Sun prairie location much better. Had to flag our server down to get a drink. Very inattentive to our table. Excessive amount of time to wait for our food. People that sat down after us, received their food first. They brought the wrong pizza to our table. Appetizer came at same time as the entrees . Chicken parmesan was terrible. Sauce tasted like it was from a can and the pasta tasted reheated and they used chicken tenders. The goat cheese alfredo had no flavor, no goat cheese and no asparagus. Waitresses saw our burnt bread and made no effort to bring anything different. Pizza had no flavor. The waitress finally asked how our food was after 15 minutes. My husband rarely responds with “its alright “..bathrooms could use a good cleaning…definitely will not go back

A well placed pizza place that is family owned and run, as we were seated by the owner, who was very nice and our waiteess was her daughter, also very nice and funny. I loved the open seating and it definitely attracts a crowd on the weekends! We waited about 20 minutes for a table on a Saturday and ended up seated outside on a covered patio. The food is worth a visit. Pizza dough is made fresh daily and it is a good, chewy crust. The choices were varied and plenty of items for vegans and carnivores alike. I also enjoyed the salads. Come hungry! I will try this again!

Sorry, I did not intend to leave a review and must have hit 1 star on accident. The food was fine but but I’m pretty sure the waiter forgot to put in our order. It took over an hour to get our pizza and we never got our appetizer. He was nice though.
