The food was delicious. I ordered two dinners – fried chicken and smothered chicken. They were both amazing in different ways. All the sides were very good.
People there were friendly and warm. They talked to customers like their friends.
I highly recommend this restaurant!

You know it’s good when you’re instantly transported back down South where you grew up. I mean when you need a dose of soul food, you need a dose of soul food. And Suga Foot does deliver!

They nailed it all, the fried chicken crisp and juicy and seasoned to perfection, the collards with that tiny spicy kick and those important little bits of ham, the candy-sweet yams, and the peach cobbler, tender and flaky. The green beans are not quite as soggy and cooked to death as what I remember down South, but the slightly-crisper version is just as good.

The people are friendly, and the diners look happy and make themselves at home. Somebody put some real thought into the decor, with plenty of plants and some fun little trappings to match the theme. Speakers are playing the requisite soulful slow-jam-R&B to add to the ambiance, and the place is just very comfortable, with good vibes all around.

So, this is definitely a place that you might want to consider adding to your rotation. I’m telling you, going too long without a dose of that soul food is not good for your mental health!

Listen, this place hit different. We rolled through twice during our family visit, and both times? *Chef’s kiss.* Every single dish came through with that home-cooked love you can’t fake.

ALL main dishes were DELISH. The mac and cheese is baked just right—crispy golden top, creamy center, none of that runny nonsense. And the collard greens? Slappin!
The yams struck that perfect balance—sweet enough to make you smile but not overkill. And do NOT sleep on that cornbread. Grab yourself a piece, trust me.

But the peach cobbler? The kind of dessert that makes you understand why your grandmother never shared her recipe.

This is the real deal—the kind of cooking that fills your belly and feeds your soul. We’ll be back every single time we’re in town.

My co-workers and I came here for dinner because we were in a training in Albany.

I consider myself a bit of a foodie and my mother’s family is from down south.

I ordered the whiting, cabbage and mac and cheese and it was outstanding !!! The mac and cheese is literally some of the best I have ever had !!!

The staff were so polite and friendly.
The Head Chef Carl came over and introduced himself to us and it was a pleasure speaking with him.

I highly recommend.

Run … don’t walk !!!

Suga Foot is, without exaggeration, the best soul food in the Albany-Troy-Schenectady area. For me, the true test of any soul food restaurant is the collard greens. These were exceptional. Tender, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. The southern oxtail with rice and beans was equally impressive. The oxtail was fall-off-the-bone tender, rich, and comforting. The yams were sweet and balanced. Beyond the food, the restaurant itself is lovely. The decor is warm, full of plants. The only small suggestion I’d offer is serving drinks in glasses instead of plastic cups – real glassware would match the rest of the vibe a little better.

Let me start by saying the food is amazing. I had the 3-Wing Dinner w/ 2 Sides. The fried chicken was crispy and amazingly flavorful, the mac and cheese actually tastes cheesy and is moist, the cabbage was fresh, soft, and flavorful as well!

The pictures do not do the food enough justice, It looks even better in person! The restaurant atmosphere is a nice cozy, comfortable vibe. The family is nice and helpful.

I love black owned business showing representation in the best way in our community and this restaurant is just that. High quality and friendly service. And the food tastes amazing! I 100% recommend and will be a regular there.

I don’t think you will find better soul food in the capital region. The staff was friendly, the food was excellent and surprisingly cheap. Suga Foot’s is a true hidden gem in Albany.

Just placed an online delivery order. I order from here a lot because I like the food. However, there is no excuse for the side of oxtail I just received. I only received two meaty oxtail. The other was pure bone. So basically two oxtail for over $20.00 (with tax). That’s not right. I will not be ordering at the same frequency as before.
