I will start with the good – churros are very good, crepes are gigantic and (ice cream) milkshakes are good.
The not so good, in my opinion the crepes are for about 3 people, one of them we added banana and it was missing it (we ordered 3).
Ordered a fruit mexican milkshake (a surprise milkshake because the screen doesn’t state what type of fruit and you have no option to choose) which is called licuado and it tasted extremely watery and it had more ice than anything else, the serving size was huge but again it was mostly ice and it wasn’t sweet at all, we drank about 1/4 of it.
I ordered a cafe de olla which is a mexican coffee distinguish by its cinnamon flavor, this coffee was prepared on the spot (cafe de olla has to be boiled and it takes time) and I’m pretty sure I saw instant coffee being used, the coffee tasted like just instant coffee, wasn’t sweet at all nor did it taste anything like cinnamon, I had to ask for creamer.
I also ordered churro split, the churros were delicious the fruit and the syrup made a perfect combo but I had to get up and request nutella because it was missing and I did selected that option on the screen.
You place your order in a big touch screen which is missing several dish pictures and we just skipped over them because we didn’t really know what they were or looked like.
You have to request extra napkins because they are not available outside.
Also I believe the heat was off because it was cold in there, they only had those wall heaters on high up in the entrance wall.
Was it worth it? If you are looking for churros yes, I really liked the churros they tasted fresh and crunchy as they should. I feel like it’s a little overpriced on the rest of the items we ordered and only because the crepes were a huge serving size like I said and nobody warned me that you get like 3 in one order, I didn’t drink my coffee, we couldn’t finish the crepes, we didn’t finish the milkshake.
We spent around $98 dlrs in all (3 crepes, 2 ice cream milkshakes, 1 mexican milkshake, 1 churro split and 1 cafe de olla).
My suggestion will be: napkins available for us to grab without asking, to work on the cafe de olla because that is clearly not it, more sweet licuados, heat, better background music, and someone greeting you at least from behind the counter or to acknowledge you are there because nobody greeted us and even though the young ladies there were respectful and kind, I feel like that will make a more positive impact in future customers.
I also want to give a shoutout to Isaac, who served me there he does a fantastic job. He’s friendly, professional, and always brings positive energy that makes the visit even better. Employees like him really elevate the whole experience.
Highly recommend Sugachurros if you’re looking for a sweet treat and great service!
