My friends and I went to Sudova and had a great time! We sat at the bar and shared a bunch of small plates and a couple large plates, and tried some of their cocktails. Highly recommend, the food was amazing! We really enjoyed the Kotleta and Varenyky. The breaded chicken was so flavorful! We also tried parsnip latkes, Tvorog, Halushki, Khachapuri, and roasted cauliflower Holubtsi. Our absolute favorite was the Medovik cakes we got, and we devoured them! Definitely try the dessert. Our server was also amazing and great with recommendations. You will absolutely enjoy your experience at Sudova. Best to get a reservation in advance!

Armed with nothing but a paperback book and my NYT crosswords app, I managed to find one of the best meals I’ve had in a while.

Reservations are available online and I booked for shortly after opening, so I got my bar seat immediately. Even though I was dining alone, the staff made the whole experience warm and inviting. They checked on me just often enough. I felt taken care of and wasn’t rushed or bothered too frequently. Presentation was beautiful. I’m thankful for the background music, because I may or may not have been legitimately saying “wow, yum” out loud while nodding my head multiple times.

* Dumpling Special – I’m so sorry that this is a special. If you’re ever blessed enough to stumble upon it, order these butternut squash dumplings and thank me later. I stopped listening to the description after I heard “butternut squash” but the sauce was divine. The Brussels sprouts were perfectly crisp and the pomegranate seeds added little pops of sweetness. I want to eat this every day.

* Kulebiaka – Salmon, Dill Rice, Crimini Mushrooms, Puff Pastry, and Béarnaise. I didn’t take a picture of the Béarnaise sauce, but it was served in a gravy boat and was incredibly light while still being flavorful. Everything inside this puff pastry package was complimentary to all the other ingredients. How they were able to get the salmon at the exact temp it needed to be while baking inside the pastry will remain a mystery. My favorite part was the dill rice. Something about it brought everything together. The puff pastry was crispy and airy. Not a single complaint.

* Medovik – Apple Cardamom Wildflower Honey Cake and Chantilly Smetana. If the taste of Autumn and a cloud from heaven made a love child, this would be it. Such a cozy way to finish a meal. It was much lighter than I was expecting, which was a pleasant surprise. I wanted to save a few bites of everything to bring home to share with my boyfriend, but this cake almost didn’t make it. So good.

* Mokteyl N/A – Hibiscus, Rose Petal, Currant, Lemon, Rosemary, Soda. I don’t drink alcohol, so I unfortunately couldn’t try any of their cocktails. However, I’m always happy to see a mocktail on the menu so that I can also drink something fun. Good balance of flavors and a nice addition to the meal.

All in all, I was so incredibly impressed. Thank you to the Sudova Team for helping me have a successful solo dinner on a Friday night.

P.S. – Whoever was running expo very obviously knew what he was doing. I felt like I was in an episode of The Bear (in the best way).

This place is fantastic! The food was so fresh and well made and the menu is really well thought out and unique for our city. The dumplings were *chefs kiss* , the drinks were tah-die-for and the small plates and entrees were so good. The restaurant itself is stunning on the inside. 10/10 we will so be back!

We had awesome service and amazing dishes at Sudova. Every dish and cocktail was full of flavor. We dined here for my son’s birthday. I added photos with names of the dishes. You can’t go wrong here.

This was our second time visiting Sudova.

The dumplings are amazing; we had liked them so much on our first visit that we had to try them all this time, and it was the right decision. They are perfectly chewy and the combination of flavors is excellent.

The Haluski is buttery and comforting. It’s truly surprising how they take simple cabbage and elevate it.

We also really loved the special Khachapuri, which had Hungarian peppers and sausage. The crust was crispy yet soft and the cheese filling was delicious.

You must not leave without trying the Medovik, a layered cake which changes flavors seasonally. It’s made to perfection: light, moist, and not too sweet.

This is easily our favorite restaurant in Cincinnati and the service is always wonderful.

A disappointing meal for the price, but a beautiful environment. I appreciated their vegetarian options but for the small plates our rye bread was beyond toasted, it was burnt. There were whole spring onions included on the plate with no instruction of how to integrate into the dish. The parsnip latkes were very dense and the dill creme freiche tasted like nothing. The special of vegetarian cabbage rolls were complete mush on the interior and also had an underlying burnt flavor. The brownie and ice cream were quite delicious to finish our meal. For the price and the hype, we expected a better meal and more attentive service. They did not remove the small plates before arriving with the large plates, no one asked if we wanted a second drink, and our water jug was empty for a while before we got a refill.

Sudova is an absolute gem, offering authentic and original cuisine right here in Cincinnati. Every dish felt creative, fresh, and full of flavor.
I tried the Pelmeni, the special of the night- delicate dumplings stuffed with butternut squash, served in a rich brown butter sauce with scallions, crispy Brussels sprouts, pomegranate seeds, and a touch of dill.
The Borsch was equally delicious- hearty with beef roast, root vegetables, and a dollop of dill smetana that tied everything together perfectly.

Sudova is a lively spot for Eastern European flavors. The dumplings were the highlight – the Rye Varenyky with sauerkraut had a rich and traditional taste, while the Cod Pelmeni offered a pleasantly bold and briny kick. The Khachapuri was a slight miss, as it was a tad salty with bread that leaned firm. Their cocktails also run strong, with the Balkan Stringer being a little more than I’d prefer. Food portions are generous, the vibe is wonderful, and overall it’s a pretty solid stop for hearty European food.
