We came to Succotash while visiting the national harbor. We did not have a reservation and were told it was a 45 minute wait. However, the host was able to accommodate us in the bar section so we did not have to wait. I ordered a dirty martini and the shrimp and grits. The entrees was very good and packed with flavor, but I expected a larger portion based on the price. We ordered the cheese burger with a side of macaroni and cheese for our son and the chicken and waffles. The chicken was very crispy and had a good taste, but expected more seasoning in the chicken. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and good presentation. Service was a little slow in the bar area. I would return and try different menu options.

So good we came back twice!! In town for a conference and found this perfect gem!! The first night, we had bacon jam deviled eggs, cornbread, and chicken & waffles for food and drinks were mint julep, basil mule, and pandan dew. Between the three drinks, pandan dew was on the fruitier side and my personal favorite that I ordered on the second night. The mint julep was bourbon forward but exactly what we expected. The mule was in between, had the bourbon prominent but also had the blend of ginger perfectly for a mule. The chicken and waffles are the MVP!!! the best friend chicken, a delicious bourbon syrup, and perfect waffles. The pickled okra was a lovely new thing for me – don’t usually like okra but I loved this!! On the second night, we had some of the same food but also tried the catfish, fried pickles, and peach cobbler and the banana pudding. Everything was delicious. But the banana pudding would be the reason I’d come back here despite a two hour drive. It’s fresh and light yet filling and decadent. Luna was our server the first night and answered all our questions and provided great suggestions!!

My partner and I went on Valentine’s day and got their prix fixe menu for that evening. We waited 40 minutes to get our appetizers, a soup and pork chops, which were both room temperature. We then got a “medium rare” steak and ahi tuna on white rice. The steak was extremely chewy and the rice was dry and did not taste fresh. The menu provided also made it seem like the alcoholic beverage was included in the set menu, but when we asked for it they said it was not. For $70 dollars each it was very disappointing.

1DEC.2025 Absolutely wonderful first time here. (K)was absolutely incredible serving me and my mate.

Everything from the female maître d’ at the entrance, seating, and all of our food and desserts were sublime. Deviled eggs w/bacon jam, Kimchi crab dip, and Kentucky Hot Brown was delicious all around. Absolutely delicious! Wonderful experience and food and we’ll be back.

Definitely coming here again.

ADA compliant.

Great room for big or small parties. Staff were so accommodating and helpful. We mixed up locations for reservations but they made it work for us. Their meals are southern with a Korean twist. It’s walkable from the Gaylord and the water front.

The chicken and waffles is bone in. Request syrup when you order.

Crab hash was smaller than expected and thick, but tasty

The burger is AMAZING. Not too greasy and very flavorful

There is parking garages close or random street parking

The cornbread was amazing—moist, buttery and perfectly textured. It struck that rare balance between sweet and savory, easily the best I’ve ever had.

The Deviled Eggs with Bacon Jam is a must-order appetizer. The creamy filling paired with the smoky-sweet bacon jam created a rich, indulgent bite that set the tone for the rest of the meal.

Chicken and Waffles..
The chicken was crisp and flavorful, while the waffles added a sweetness. Together, they created a satisfying contrast of textures—sweet, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned.

Steak (Medium Rare) and eggs..
Cooked to perfection, the steak was tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. Even the leftovers held up beautifully, especially when paired later with poached eggs and a warm potato salad—a creative and delicious encore.

Our server, Myshia, elevated the entire experience. She was personable, attentive, and genuinely warm, making us feel welcome throughout the meal. We’ll definitely be asking for her on our next visit.

From start to finish, this was a standout dining experience that combined exceptional food with equally exceptional service. Fans of Edward Lee’s culinary approach will find this meal both familiar and inspiring—a perfect blend of Southern comfort and modern flair.

We enjoyed a truly memorable Sunday brunch at Succotash, and the experience exceeded expectations from start to finish. Securing a reservation through Resy was seamless—I booked 48 hours in advance and added a request for booth seating, which the team graciously accommodated without an issue.

We began with their Bellinis, which were impeccably crafted and beautifully presented, complete with a delicate egg-white froth that added an elegant touch. For a starter, we shared the wings. While I opted to have them plain and added hot sauce myself—preferring a traditional buffalo style—the restaurant’s signature smoky Southern barbecue flavor was well-executed and distinctive.

For my main course, I ordered the French toast with a side of bacon. The bacon is caramelized and notably sweet, which is worth mentioning for anyone who prefers something less sugary. My mom initially ordered the crab hash, but we needed to send it back due to the onions. She has a strong aversion. The manager handled the situation with exemplary professionalism—patient, considerate, and genuinely committed to ensuring she received something she would enjoy. She ultimately chose poached eggs and bacon, and the staff could not have been more accommodating.

What truly set this experience apart, beyond the delicious food, was the outstanding service. It has been quite some time since I’ve encountered such warm, attentive, and knowledgeable staff. Every team member we interacted with was kind, polite, and consistently made us feel welcome.

Having visited the Washington, DC location previously, we can confidently say that the National Harbor location surpasses it in every way—fresher dishes, friendlier service, and a noticeably more organized operation.

We will absolutely be returning during our next stay at the Gaylord. Succotash at National Harbor comes highly recommended.

Excellent! After years of coming to the harbor we finally tried this amazing restaurant and it was an incredible experience. From how accommodating they are to the delicious flavors and wonderful service, you can’t go wrong with anything here. The decor is also top, comfortable and warm. Nice touches throughout the space. Our waitress was attentive and made very good recommendations. Can’t wait to go back.

The kimchi crab dip was the highlight of my visit 10/10 amazing. I also had the cornbread, which was good and I would get it again. I thought the shrimp and grits were missing something and they were not the best shrimp grid that I’ve ever had. The sweet potato stuffed waffle was very creative and I also loved that. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also very cozy and beautiful. I will definitely be back.
