We order the same thing from every subway every time, and I’ve never had any problems by getting two separate cheeses on a foot-long (shredded cheese on one side and sliced cheese on the other). No one else has ever had a problem making our sandwich that way until today. Sounds silly, but she made us separate our sandwich into two 6 inch sandwiches (which I told her to go ahead and do) probably for more money. Whatever- we just went with it.
Mind you, she had an incredibly horrible attitude as she sarcastically spoke to us shaking her head and all. The other customers in the store kinda looked at us and we looked at each other my daughter and I…. Anyway, we tried to proceed on to getting our sandwiches. My daughter likes pepperoni to be added to it so I had asked her to add pepperoni to it pointing to the one we wanted it on. That became a much bigger deal than cheese. She put the pepperoni on the wrong side of the sandwich and I told her about it being on the wrong side and she lost it. She picked up the sandwich and sort of smashed it between her hands and said that’s it. I’m done – you guys can leave!!! (If you have cameras, I hope you watch this)!
All I can say is, I was in shock that this was happening to us right now. I asked Michelle if I could speak to a manager, and she yelled at us. “I AM THE MANAGER”!!!
I said we really just want our sandwiches. Can I speak to maybe a different manager or can we call one just to clear this up? She said I am not calling another manager and in fact, if you don’t leave right now as she slammed down the clear covers for the toppings…. I will call the cops to have you removed.
I couldn’t believe that I was being threatened like I was some sort of bad guy or criminal in front of my eight-year-old daughter. We’re trying to get pepperonis and cheese on my Subway sandwich. She started yelling leave or I’m calling the cops. My daughter and I were kind of shaking at this point as we couldn’t believe how we were being treated.
I am in leadership, and at this point, I felt it was best to grab my daughter‘s hand. She said let’s go daddy and we left.
We were shaking as we walked to the car. I was trying to explain to her when she asked me why was that lady so mean and rude to us daddy?? Why did she wanna call the cops on us, we didn’t do anything wrong.
I’m just beyond words for our experience today. I cannot believe that a manager, even at a subway store with probably little leadership experience would throw a customer out of the store and threaten to call the cops on us. We were just trying to get our sandwich corrected from having pepperonis moved from one side to the other.
I know this sounds incredibly silly, but the anger expressed to us was so outrageous that I feel the need to share this with someone who cares in an executive role even though in Albuquerque, it looks like they are franchised their local ownerships. Still though, they have your name on the outside of their building and should uphold certain standards. I feel to keep it there.
I tried searching out who the local franchise owner of the store was to maybe have a conversation and share this experience, but I am unable to locate who that person is. I probably could’ve got it from the sign on the front of the door, but I was so upset that we just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible.
In my opinion, if you want your business to grow and flourish… Having this person on your team is going to have quite the opposite effect, unfortunately.
Thank you so much for your time and for listening to my story.
I hope someone with authority over Michelle and this store does something to change it.
