But the biggest issue was that midway through our food order we were told no cards accepted due to an outage (even though they knew this before we started our order as they were with another customer talking). We had to go on the app to pay, pay with cash (didn’t have any), or leave with no dinner after waiting. Better yet, the manager told them they couldn’t place a sign on the door and have to wait to notify customers until they are in line.
The guy employee was extremely nice and pleasant. Just unfortunate his other coworkers were not and his manager was disappointing and clearly for the money.
We walked in and the bell on the door rang twice. The store was silent. We waited…. it stayed silent. I called out after a couple minutes “Is anyone here?” The girl walked around the corner and rolled her eyes at us.
She had her hair down around her ears with no hair net on. More than once she ran her hand around her ear like she was pushing it back.
The whole process of making the sandwiches was done in slow motion. She would ask a question, stand there, then ask again. She had to keep looking at the board to see what was on each sub. When my daughter asked for the guacamole on her sub that was labeled as having guacamole she did a huge eye roll and loud sigh before looking for it. By the time she had started 2 subs, we said we were done. The rest of us got food down the road.
They were out of a lot of items (or she wasn’t going to fill them back up) like steak, some cheeses, lettuce, etc. We didn’t get a single napkin, and as the subs were opened everything fell out. But she had removed the paper it was made on, so things were all falling out everywhere.
I got multiple sandwiches (at different times) that were soft and barely warm (even though I specified to toast extra long) and with barely any toppings (even though I had selected extra and also asked if they could load up the sandwich). The owner was dismissive, then passive aggressive with me. Don’t go here as the franchise owners clearly don’t care about your subway experience.
Long Story:
I had initially gone to this location because it was very close to my apartment. During that time it was alright and there were only a few times when it was really good due to one employee (who I haven’t seen working there in ages). The last four times I went were the reasons why I will never come to this location again. Every time I order (in app) I select extra for the vegetables as well as leave a note. This note states to toast the sandwich extra long and also to load up the sandwich if possible (which I know there’s only a certain amount they can put on the sandwich). This also comes along with a tip so you would think they would be able to make the sandwich properly. All four times I got a sandwich that felt and tasted like it had been in a microwave for 5 seconds. It was barely warm and still completely soft. Not only that, but there were almost no vegetables on this sandwich, not even what I would get from other locations with a normal amount of vegetables. So after the first couple of times I filled out the contact form to contact (who I thought was the management but ended up being the owner) about this. The first time I just got a generic message along the lines of “we’ll pass your comments on to our staff to improve the restaurant and we’re sorry that happened” which is totally fine for an initial response. Well when the next sub happened again I contacted them again saying it’s still the same despite my comments and the owner did not seem to enjoy that. Then I decided to go one more time (on my way back from a road trip and this location is in a convenient location for me) and had the same result. Well this sparked the owner giving me the same generic response as before which I didn’t like so I submitted a different form which I thought went to corporate but actually just went back to the owner. This then annoyed the owner but they finally gave in and decided to give me coupons. Well after 3 weeks (no idea why it took so long to mail as they supposedly put it in the mail right away but I had gotten other mail that was put in later than that from halfway across the country and this was going from Ames to Ames…) I finally get the coupons and so I go to use them the next day only to find out that a lot of subways won’t take these coupons. What is the point of sending coupons that can’t be used? Overall this owner was completely unprofessional and clearly doesn’t care about the business and only cares about the money. Hopefully this franchise will close down so it won’t put a dark mark on the subway chain
